50:50 Studios, London Description

Welcome to the 50: 50 Studios facebook page.

50: 50 Studios is a cosy little recording studio in Wood Green, North London which provides professional recording facilities for singer /songwriters, producers, bands, editing, and voice overs. It is the ideal place to record overdubs for full album projects, and is very popular with many of our clients who wish to write and record in one session. We have close ties with some of the best session musicians in the UK through our network and are happy to make introductions for appropriate projects.

The Studio is equipped with a Pro Tools HD2 Accel system on an 8 Core Mac Pro with 12 GB Ram, running Pro Tools 10 and Logic Pro 9.

We have a fantastically warm, playable and characterful Steck baby grand piano tuned to concert pitch that sounds like it's just fallen off a Joni Mitchell or Neil Young record, and for those wanting a brighter sound there is a wealth of samples including Synthogy Ivory. Currently, Ben Trigg has made 50: 50 the home for his staggeringly beautiful Baby Grand Butterfly Wurlitzer (with incredible working speakers! ) making this an ideal, vibey writing room. We provide an excellent option for artists, publishers, managers and labels alike.

There is a top selection of new and vintage mics including: Neumann U47 Fet; 2 x 70's Neumann U87; sE NEve RNR1 Active Ribbon; Brauner VM1; Neumann M149; matched stereo pair of Neve sE RN17 pencil mics; matched pair of AKG C451; AKG C414 XLII; sE TITAN; matched pair of sE Voodoo VR2 active Ribbons; Shure SM7, Beta 58 and SM58; sE X1 Ribbon; and a Golden Age R1 Active Ribbon.

Summing is through a Neve Portico 5059 Satellite Summing Mixer and if you're in the mood, there's a Rupert Neve Designs Portico 5042 Tape Saturation unit too.

Monitoring is through sE Munro Eggs, Yamaha NS-10's, and Avantone Active Mixcubes via a Presonus Central Station along with Denon AH-D7000, AKG K271, Sony MDR 7506 and Beyer DT150 headphones, all making it the perfect place for top quality overdubs.

Alongside the baby grand there is also a Busilacchio electric Harmonium as well as the option to hire in one of Chris's vintage acoustic guitars including Gibson made vintage epiphones: 1963 Epiphone Frontier; 1964 Epiphone Texan; and 1965 Epiphone El Dorado. Also available is a Resonator, a Taylor K65 Koa 12 String and a Tanglewood acoustic set up in nashville tuning.

Amp-wise there is a 1960's Fender Twin Reverb Blackface, a Fender DeVille, and we have some good friends who we can hire pristine vintage amps in at a very reasonable daily rate.

Throwback to when the great Steve Nieve of Elvis Costello and the Attractions fame was in recording on a song he co wrote with Chris S and Matt Deighton. Each Time You Find Out eventually found a home on Matt's latest record, Doubtless Dauntless. Undoubtedly one of the greatest musicians of our time. Steve and Matt are good too! (Jokes)

The greatest. We'll miss him more than we can say.

Want to hear how the piano sounds when a legend in the making sits at it to record a couple of killer tunes? Sign up, and fill your ears. This guy is the real - fucking - deal. Wait til you hear the album! Bloody hell.

Those of you in the know will know that this is the legendary Mr Bacon, travelling side kick of Ruper Neve Designs Josh Thomas. Was a treat to get delivery of our RNDI's recently, great to hear about some new RND products coming next year with Josh and Greg - and of course, perfect to get some proper Salt and Chilli Spare Ribs in. That's the main thing.

Need a nice warm Neil Young/Joni Mitchell piano sound? If you're after a Steinway this ain't the one - but a lovely, warm, woody sound that's somewhere between grand and upright...

User

Tommy Molotov, a Resonator, and an @sE_Electronics VR2 voodoo active Ribbon. And why not?

What a lovely day we had in 50:50 yesterday, with our friend Orlando James, who was recording a special track for a member of his family - is there a better present on earth than a song for someone recorded properly? Well, maybe a few things from Chris's clothing obsession Uniforms for the Dedicated - but other than that, I can't think of anything. Particularly buzzing about the sound of the sE VR2 Voodoo Ribbon Mics on the piano... holy moly. Like shining sun on the strings. https://www.facebook.com/sEElectronics?re f=ts&fref=ts
