As you've probably already heard some info regarding the 6mth MOT extension, this is just to clarify the details as the headlines don't always make it clear cut.... Your car, motorcycle, light van or other light vehicle’s MOT expiry date will be automatically extended by 6 months if it’s due on or after Monday 30 March 2020.
This means that your vehicle will still have a valid MOT certificate for an extra 6 months.
You do not need to do anything for this to happen. However, you must keep your vehicle safe to drive.
This applies to all vehicles, including those that need their first ever MOT test.
What they don't clearly explain is if you take advantage of the extension your car still needs to be roadworthy, if you are involved in an accident your vehicle can be taken away & checked, if it's deemed to be none roadworthy then this will void your insurance.
You can be fined up to £2,500, be banned from driving and get 3 penalty points for driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition.

DID YOU KNOW YOUR BRAKE FLUID SHOULD BE CHANGED REGULARLY? Brake fluid is a hygroscopic fluid meaning that it absorbs water over time reducing its effectiveness. Once water content reaches the 3% mark, the water brings down the normal boiling point of the brake fluid and air bubbles are created as a result. Once this happens, the brakes become ineffective and dangerous. Motorist probably won't even be aware that this has taken place because the braking system will appear comp...letely normal until the brake fluid reaches the reduced boiling point - which usually occurs after braking heavily. Most manufacturer`s recommend changing the brake fluid at least every 2 years (or more regularly for cars fitted with ABS, ESP or for high mileage users).
