A Brilliant Gamble

Call it a mid-life crisis, existential angst or just a desire to really start living authentically. . . Many of us wonder if there's more to life than the path we've been on until now. The routine of Monday morning to Sunday night, the little daily sacrifices we make to our well-being, a sense that we have to compromise our values to make an impact in our work…Suddenly it doesn't seem worth it. But we don't want to drop out, or retire, or fade into the shadows! We want to shake things up! We want to do something each day that makes us excited to get out of bed, that feeds our creativity, that leaves an impact. I've got to that point too. More than once! And I've learnt over the last two decades that sometimes you have to take a brilliant gamble, to place your bets on turning your dream into a plan, even if most people seem to choose a more conventional path. I've become an advocate for a new way of thinking about work and the role work plays in our lives. I've created A Brilliant Gamble which provides classes, courses and coaching for individuals who want to reconfigure work so that it blends seamlessly with life and companies who believe, like me, that it's time to unpick the Industrial Age norms of work and rethink how to get the best contribution from their human employees. In 2018 I set off in a campervan with my daughter and two dogs for a year of travelling and working around Europe, experimenting with how to blend my own work and life.
