Dr. Apostolos Gaitanis graduated with distinction from the University of Athens Medical School in 1988.
During the years 1991 and 1992, he began his General Surgery training in the U. K. in various accredited NHS posts. Following this, he completed his advanced training in Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery in Birmingham and London hospitals in posts accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of England as well as the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.
During his training Dr. Gaitanis was exposed to all aspects of Plastic Surgery including, extensive reconstructive work to correct functional impairments caused by burns or accidents, such as hand surgery. He also gained experience in microsurgical techniques and cosmetic procedures.
In February 1998 Dr Gaitanis was awarded the title of Specialist Plastic Surgeon following examinations set by the Hellenic National Board of Plastic Surgery in accordance with the European Union regulations. In the same year, he was also awarded by the European Boards of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery in Slough, UK.
Dr Gaitanis keeps constantly up to date with the latest developments in Cosmetic Surgery and since 1998 he has specialized in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He regularly visits renounced Plastic Surgery Clinics in Italy, France, Switzerland and the USA receiving training for cutting- edge techniques in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
Since 1998, Dr Gaitanis has established his own private practice in Harley Street, London. He has treated an international clientele, including media and show business personalities. In the UK, he has often made media appearances in BBC, Channel 4 and other TV programmes, while his articles regularly appear in newspapers such as Times, The Independent, Financial Times and magazines such as Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire.
Since November 2004, Dr Gaitanis has been able to offer his services as a Specialist Plastic Surgeon in Greece as well. His patients can visit his private practice at 48 Vassilissis Sofias Avenue (on the 1st floor) after booking an appointment.
In Greece, his interviews appear in the newspapers Eleftherotipia, Kathimerini, Imerisia, Apogevmatini, and Proto Thema, while his articles have been published in many women’s magazines such as Shape, Officiel, Diva, VIMAdonna, Madame Figaro, Vita, Grazia, Votre Beauty, Forma, Prevention, Bazzar, and Celebrity. Dr Gaitanis is a well-known media personality in Greece, as he has made appearances in many TV stations (ΝΕΤ, Mega, Star, Alpha, and ANT1).
