My name is Alex Hart and I founded A School Beneath the Pines back in January 2015. I have dedicated my life to exploring the outdoor world and learning all that it has to offer. Prior to School Beneath the Pines I worked in Itchen Valley as a forest school assistant volunteer for over two years. In this time, I was able to learn through others and attend courses myself that allowed me to develop as a forest school leader, while be able to help those that wanted to discover forest schools and all that it has to offer.

After this, I took a summer placement in New York to further my abilities and knowledge over a 6-month period. Having come back from teaching environmental sciences and ecology to children between the ages of 3 and 12 in America, I decided to bring my passion and my energy into a Forest School and outdoor teaching environment.

One of my motivations behind founding a School Beneath the Pines was the amazing experiences I was given through spending time with family and friends learning about nature when I was younger. I have been lucky enough to grow up in a society where playing outside was far superior to playing on an iPad or games console, and I strongly believe that allowing children to explore their imaginations in a safe and exciting environment contributes positively to their holistic development.
