The Aardvark Brocante Events have gained a solid reputation for their variety and quality of flea-market style stalls selling vintage, antique, bric-a-brac goods and upcycled crafts. We hold them 4 times a year, and visitors can enjoy browsing the stalls and the bookshop, with refreshments from the Aardvark Café and live music to add to the relaxed, party atmosphere that Aardvark is known for. Free entry, free parking (in the car park or nearby field), all are welcome! For those wishing to book a stall, our prices for 2019 are: £12 for a six-foot space if you bring your own table, or £15 if you wish to hire one of our tables.

Morning all, time to ask a question! Do go to the Guardian survey and answer the question, the more support bookshops get the better! Thank you!

Poetry lovers! You are invited to our first event of the year, on Wednesday 23rd January, poetry breakfast with Anna Dreda, on the theme of endings and beginnings. Very appropriate for the month of Janus!

Well, it's nearly Goodbye 2018, Hello 2019! Mr & Mrs Aardvark plan an evening on the sofa tonight hugging the dog during the fireworks, and a day off tomorrow - the bookshop will be closed. So, until we see you again, read Mr Aardvark's thoughts on the year ending and the year to come at Aardvark: www.aardvark-books.com/the-aardvark-blog? Thank you everyone who came today to our Christmas Fair and helped to make it a lovely day! Sunshine, lots of visitors, quite a bit of shopping, and festive fun! What a contrast with last year. Thank you!

User

so many books! so many many books! Had a great browse and ended up buying three great old cinema books. then i came back after my coffee (lovely ta!) and bought two more!

User

What a fabulous find! We found this place by chance and so pleased that we did. Definitely recommended.

User

We randomly found this place while cycling and just stayed for 3 hours! We wish we could have stayed even longer...

User

We always enjoy our visits to Aardvark Books and enjoy the cuppas, especially when we're able to sit outside. Watching the cattle in their sheds and sipping tea is a very pleasant experience - calming. Books, cards, wrapping paper, exhibitions are of such good quality.

This is my local bookshop: how lucky am I? It’s my favourite Sunday morning coffee destination, and when the grand-children come to stay they ALWAYS ask for a visit to Aardvark (you’ll see why when you go there!). Everything about it is fab: friendly, welcoming staff; the best coffee for miles and miles; home-made cakes; a wood-burning stove; probably miles of bookshelves and they’re open every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day and Easter Sunday so you never have to worry about will they be open or not: they will be, even when they have to battle through snow drifts. (PS I’m a bookseller too, so take it from me, I know what I’m talking about!)

Simply superb bookshop run by true book lovers. A dazzling selection of reference material I'd never seen anywhere else which meant I came away with a whole heap of design books and creative thinking aids that will serve me for years to come. Upstairs is a great collection of new and used fiction/non-fiction titles all very well organised.

And there is a delightful cafe with great food - what more could you want?

User

Fantastic book shop. Lots of choices, great childrens' range. Lovely tea shop with home made cake and friendly staff. Will be back once I've read through the mountain we go yesterday!

User

Enjoy it more each time we go. Its open on a Monday too unlike like many other businesses. The choice is vast, the coffee first-class and the staff are low key and friendly.

User

An absolute gem of both a bookshop and local resource for all kinds of events. Friendly approachable staff. Gorgeous building and more books than you’ll know what to do with.

User

Amazing place could easily get lost there for days - and the cake is good too !
