Help to Buy ... If you are one on the many people who took advantage of the Help to Buy scheme and are now considering paying off the equity loan, there are a couple of things worth considering: 1) The amount you owe is based on the current property value not the original purchase price. A 20% help to buy loan on a purchase price of £200,000 is £40,000. If the current property value is £250,000 you will owe £50,000 2) You do not have to wait 5 years before you pay this equity loan off. If your property is going up in value it may be worth looking at paying the loan off as soon as you can afford.
