I don't feel this is a GP surgery more like a NHS walk in centre, the place is nearly packed all the time.
There's nothing personal about the treatment either its 10 minutes in and out, If your ill this could be a problem.
Wait times on the phone is nothing short of excruciating, I've seen the responses by the prac/man On the NHS Choices site and I don't think that anybody would truly reveal their identity.
Some of the GP's ("not all") have an awful desk-side manner.
The practice swallowed up three smaller one's Green-stead, Elmstead Market and one that was next door at Portland/Ypres Road.
You can tell which GP's are the popular ones by the online booking system, as you can never get an appointment with them !
The "call waiting voicemail system" is the worst in the NHS, I've burnt out a smart phone battery with the wait times hanging on the phone !
I know the NHS Clinical Commission Group forced this amalgamation, but patients need to vote discontent by using sites like this, the NHS choices web site seems to pander and get manipulated by practice managers? This is no way to pay for a health care system with "public paid for taxes" and be treated like this ?
Definitely two star for me but google posts don't do complete failures).

The surgery does OK under the current climate of NHS GP policy practice. It can be perceived or have a perception in being a little corporate. The practice has been part of a number of amalgamations and takeovers. (I don't agree with some of the posts put on this site or at the NHS Choices web site. The Portland Medical practice which this centre took over, was well past its hey day between 1990 and 2010, those were its best years if any)? This centre has made the best out of a very difficult situation and is no different than whats available elsewhere all over the borough.

i book appointments on the online system so avoids waiting on hold, more importantly the drs know their stuff when you do get to see them

Had to change the surgery due to house move, the Reception staff was very welcoming and happy to register both of us. Visited yesterday to ask about prescription procedure and had an appointment booked straight away for today. Nurse Shirley was very pleasant and it’s very convenient that the pharmacy is located in the same building, pharmacy staff were helpful. Didn’t even try phoning due to the reviews, so cannot comment on this. Large car park is a bonus.

I have given this surgery 5 stars for two reasons and two superlative ones at that 1. Dr Paolo Doria and 2. Dr L Muckhart: Dr Doria is very much out of the mould of retired Dr E Rodrigues and what a refreshing welcome that is. It will be very difficult to get an appointment with Dr Doria because he will be so popular.

Went in with a list of blood tests for my ivf, they only bothered to do 3/5. So now my ivf is potentially delayed.

Called and spoke to the blood test results lady and ended up asking to speak to a manager. 'Mark' comes on the phone and I tell him what's happened and why I am unhappy...his response...'what do you want me to do about it'!!! Didn't even apologise until I asked him to. Then I find out he's not even the practice manager (who I was told I'd been put through to) he was just a 'supervisor out the back'. Absolutely shocking that this man fraudently makes out to be someone else just to get an unhappy patient off the phone. His attitude of I don't give a damn was extremely obvious.

I would steer clear of this practice if I was you, they don't care about you as a patient or even a human being and to be honest they should be ashamed of themselves.

The worst doctors surgery I've ever been too. Ever since the merger with the portland surgery which was brilliant I've had nothing but trouble. They are always not able to get repeat prescriptions done on time and try to blame me for putting in too early. Avoid this practice at all costs. and good luck if you can get through on the phone!!!! Only given one star as you cant give zero.

Most awful staff ever. Rude and unhelpful. I WILL NOT recommend this Surgery to anyone. It also takes almost 1hr to get through to reception. Portland Medical Practice was world class and excellent before merging with this Abbeyfield Medical so called surgery. What a shame this is even a surgery.

I wish I could give zero stars.

Phone always engaged.

User

Considering that this is no longer a doctor surgery but a medical centre.. you'd think they would have more people on the phones! Always end up with an engaged tone.. or told that the centre is still closed at 8.20am? Time currently spent trying to just get through this morning.. 48mins! & still line busy tone? Ridiculous
