We went to this hotel, this weekend 20th and 21st Jan 2018, from the moment we drove up to the front of the hotel to the moment we left we had a great experience. The rooms were amazing, we stayed in 104,105,106 as there were 3 couples, the only criticism is that the Guinness is out of a can so I just had something else, the staff were fantastic, really friendly, Andy who’s was working behind the bar, (tall chap) he was great we had a laugh with him and he almost forgot to lea e the bottle of proseco because we were having such a great time. Laura was a star all night, and was there early for breakfast in the morning, always with a smile on her face. They were both great. The rooms were clean and tidy, like the fact you can Bluetooth your phone to the tv. The food was excellent, I’ve seen reviews about this saying it was poor and overpriced. Sorry but you ,use have been staying somewhere else because we could not fault it at all, I had the prawns to start, great just could do with a couple more. Ravioli with truffle and butternut. Beautiful beautiful beautiful. And it was so good with a good amount I could not manage a pudding. We all had a fantastic time, it was busy and we had a bit of a wait but nothing to extreme. Great great weekend, we will definitely be back we love it. Don’t know why you would give anything less than five star. And I hope Andy and Laura get a mention for their superb service. And it’s all done by them just being themselves and enjoying what they do, even though it’s long hours they work. I know because I have worked in the hotel industry. Well done just keep doing what your doing.

We stayed here for 3 nights as a base to explore the coast and the Lake District. It is a really lovely place and a very good location to get to see everything. Our room in The Lodge was gorgeous and we ate at Oscars 2 of our 3 nights. Even when there was a big wedding on the service and food was impeccable. We really hope to be back one day! �

We got married here 31st March and From the time i booked last April until we left this morning the experience was an absolute joy. Staff were helpful, courteous, couldn't do enough, and their suggestions and advice sorted out any issues without any hassle. From the day before the wedding when we turned up staff supported us, helped with nerves and provided everything we needed! The day was perfection itself, venue, food, entertainment all went well due to the calm but excellent facilitation of the duty manager John and his team including Joanna, Feye, Rebecca, Andy and Ian. Nothing was too much trouble. All my guests absolutely loved the hotel and the rooms are beautifully STUNNING and clean. Thankyou for making our day simply PERFECT!! The New Mr and Mrs Bate xxx

We came to abbey house at the weekend for our friends wedding! We stayed sat to mom! We had a fantastic weekend! On arriving at the hotel we got a lovely welcome we went to our room which was out in the lodge! Which was lovely. Whilst unpacking our things I opened the shower door and it fell off the runner in my hand! We reported it to reception and we were immediately transferred to another (bigger and better) room! They were very apologetic, we didn’t expect to be moved just needed it fixing! Much appreciated!! The whole weekend went very smoothly we had a meal in oscars bar which was amazing and the wedding meal and service was fantastic! Thank you so much for helping us have a very enjoyable time! We will definitely recommend you and would come again! ��

We came for Valentine's day, just for a night but wish we could have stayed longer. The room was amazing and the food was simply divine. The staff were lovely to talk to and really tentative. A lovely atmosphere and well worth the price. Even though there was a wedding on, we couldn't hear anything and the staff could still give you the time before they continued with the wedding. I hope we get to stay there again.

Such a great retreat. Food excellent. Wedding venue well recommended. Cleanliness 5star. Gardens and patio areas ideal for large families and drinking base. Staff fantastic and not in your face or over the top. Value for money a cert. As Arnie said... I will be back.

Such a beautiful hotel and experience here at the Abbey. I had a beautiful surprise for my 30th a few days ago and let’s say it most certainly hit the 5 stars mark for me and my girlfriend whom booked this for me us both.



Food, staff, ambience, location and grounds are stunning. We had the summer suite with the most insane bathroom and that alone gave top marks already without anything else.



A defo return for us

Stayed for a 1 night break as a birthday treat from my other half. The place was amazing, decor, gardens and we stayed in the Spring Suite. All staff were welcoming, esp the 2 girls who checked us in, and Tamas who served us lunch and dinner. Would definitely recommend and re visit!

Our wedding there was out of this world. They couldn’t do enough for us. Our day was seamless. Everyone commented on how wonderful everything was and how beautiful the place looked. Yasmin and John were outstanding from start to finish and our vision for our wedding was more than we could have imagined. Cameron, Faye and the team were all fabulous and the guests said it was the best wedding they have ever been to. I can not recommend them enough.

Just got back from our overnight stay here and what a fantastic hotel from start to finish we had a lovely time rooms are gorgeous with everything you need ,food was fantastic and staff very helpful and friendly would highly recommend this gem to everyone we will be back ,had a fantastic time thank you xx

I got married here on the 20th January 2018. Everything was perfect � my guests absolutely loved the venue and staff were very friendly. We had Cameron looking after us on the day and he was superb. The bar man I think his name was Andy ( he worked in the oscars bar section ) was super friendly and made us feel special and welcome every time we walked into the bar area. It’s the perfect setting for a wedding. I would definitely return for a nice weekend and so would many of my guests. 5 stars from Mr & Mrs Clarkson �

Had the most wonderful weekend here it's a beautiful hotel with stunning views and beautiful rooms all staff was fabulous and friendly and the manager was really helpful and great we even got free bottle of fizz and anniversary card in our room which was a very lovely gesture x keep up the good work guys is highly recommend and will be back xx

Had an amazing afternoon tea for my Mother-in-Law’s Birthday today. Jamie our waiter was fantastic and very attentive and he took very good care of us. The food was delicious and there was so much. They also catered for myself and my daughter vegan and pescatarian meals. The hotel and grounds are spectacular and picturesque! Would recommend this venue to everyone!!! I’m definitely raving about the it on my vegan sites. Thank you for making our day so special

Do not know what people can possibly complain about!! We were here Friday till Sunday as we were at the wedding show. Our room was fantastic, breakfast was amazing, the soup we had in Oscars was to die for and every single member of staff were welcoming and friendly and couldn’t do enough for you ! We were served promptly at the bar and in Oscars and treated ourselves to room service which was also delicious! Thank you for an amazing weekend we will definitely be back!!!

A 1 night break yesterday to sort our october wedding out. Food at oscars was fab and good value for money. Breakfast was also really good. Service throughout was good. We were upgraded to the winter suite which was gorgeous! Joanna our wedding organiser has been fantastic and such a shame she wont be able to share our day with us! Thank you all for looking after us! See you again in august, 8 weeks before our big day!!!

Went for Sunday lunch as we had a voucher. The meal itself was good, great choice of veg on plate, large Yorkshire pud. Only gripe really was that beef was very rare - hubby struggled as it was very red and bloody- not to everyone’s taste. Thought prices in general were quite high £12.95 for a single course. Staff were attentive and friendly. Wouldn’t necessarily go again.

I went to my cousin’s wedding this weekend. The weather and the venue was absolutely out of this world. Every single member of staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating. I was changing my little boy’s nappy and I was asked by a member of staff if I needed any help or I needed anything. Also at the end of the night, a lovely man rang me a taxi and helped me into the car with the baby. I had a wonderful time. I didn’t want it to end. Wonderful place. Xxxx

Went for afternoon tea with my mum this afternoon for Mother’s Day, booked the table 2 weeks ago and told them on the phone when I booked that my mum was celiac. There was a large difference I what I got compared to my mum... my mum received 2 halves of the same flavour sandwich and a small slice of cake ... compared to what I received which was a 3 tiered stand off four selections of sandwiches, 2 sausage rolls, large scone with jam and cream, 3 selections of cakes and two cheesecake type desserts. Felt bad on my mum only receiving what she got and felt like much more of an effort could of been made.
