Abbey Road Institute Description

Abbey Road Institute is the new education initiative from the world famous Abbey Road Studios.

We opened our doors to our first intake of students in 2015. Our ambition is to provide our students with the highest standard of theoretical teaching mixed with our unique approach to studio education.

Our programme was designed by the industry for the industry. We maintain the highest educational standards, support ‘hands-on’ practical learning, have a team of professional and diverse industry lecturers and give students access to state of the art equipment.

Above all else we want to share our passion for what we do.

Today Simone Lombardi brought out the inner radio DJ’s in our students as they worked in our studio on a ’BBC Live Lounge” inspired session, here covering Billie Eilish’s ‘Bury a Friend’. Simone joins us from BBC where he works as a Live Music Producer, which involves regularly engineering at the legendary Maida Vale Studios as well as doing outside broadcast, covering major national festivals such as Glastonbury and Reading.

This time last week our students were in the studio with our lecturer Jason learning all about mixing. Jason also discussed his career, which includes being part of the band Dub Pistols and being an engineer for films such as Blade 2 and with artists including Moby and Lily Allen!

Today we welcomed our friends from Sontronics to Abbey Road Institute. After a presentation about microphone design and the manufacturing process, our students experimented with a selection of Sontronics mics in the studio. What followed was awesome music and great recordings with absolutely no processing. 🎶

This was last week’s mixing session with Haydn Bendall following our recording session in Abbey Road’s Studio Two last month. The students are mixing Johnnys track ‘Warmer Without You’ which is sounding beautiful!
