The relationship between sound and human emotion (predominantly fear) is incredibly important in the horror film industry. As part of that, 3D immersive audio is being used and experimented with more and more. This Friday, FrightFest will host an exclusive screening of Final Stop at the Prince Charles Cinema - a 3D audio thriller presented in immersive binaural sound produced by Sennheiser. Mirek Stiles, Head of Audio Products at Abbey Road will be on a panel following the screening discussing the power of 3D sound within the horror film genre. Two years ago today, Frank Ocean released his third studio album, Blond - part-recorded in Studio Three and the Penthouse assisted by Abbey Road assistant engineer Matt Mysko. Matt discussed working with Frank in NME as a “Journey to find another world. The path he chose was anything but linear and we travelled down routes to the furthest extremities imaginable. No rules applied and dimensions were explored that ended up bearing no relation to eventuality. Somehow, at the end of it all, it feels to be like the planet he found is much like our own, it feels familiar and is full of beauty but contains wonders never seen or experienced by anyone before.”

This day in 1969 was the last time all four Beatles were at Abbey Road Studios altogether. They were finishing recording John Lennon’s “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” and then sequencing a version of the “Abbey Road” album’s running order. This is one our favourite photographs of The Beatles leaving the studio, taken in 1963 by John Dove.

The album's eleven "straight-up love songs" have featured as one of BBC Radio 6 Music's albums of the day, mastered by Abbey Road engineer Christian Wright, produced by Mica Levi and mixed by Kwes.

what an amazing place. Had a wonderful experience there in November recording 3 songs with my fellow rock choir members from Abergavenny in South Wales. The acoustics were outstanding, to think of all the wonderful artists that have used these amazing studios, a wonderful memory to treasure.

User

What an experience. I am humbled and proud to have had the privilege to sing at this iconic venue #rockchoir

Went yesterday for a look around the iconic Abbey Road Studios and to hear a presentation on the history of this famous building in what is the Holy Grail for Beatles' fans: Studio 2. The presentation of 'The Studios that became a Legend' by Brian Kehew & Kevin Ryan was in turns interesting, informative and funny. Both Brian and Kevin were personable, good communicators and quite obviously experts in their field and it felt a great privilege to be in the place that facilitated music that changed the world so a big thank you to all who allowed this to happen. The logistics weren't perfect (e.g. why was Studio 2 so dark for so long? Also, the amount of chairs made it difficult to move around and detracted from the visuals of this special place), few things rarely are, but the staff were courteous and helpful and I'll look back on the day with a mixture of both pride and wonder. Well done all. P.s. the guy next to me got to play one note on a piano and he confessed he felt like crying. That is the power of this place (and the Fab Four) for so many.

Very nice facilities with a friendly but professional environment.

This place is amazing

Although I wasn’t a “client “ just a guest of my brother in law

We were treated with great respect and friendliness and allowed to wander freely as long as you respect the rules

The cafe was fab with a really nice atmosphere and polite attentive staff !! Prices were very civil too

All in all an experience I shall never forget

The first time I visited Abbey Road Studios with Rock Choir I was so excited and overwhelmed by what had been recorded there . I was a Beatles fan , they were my youth . Yesterday I was there again with Rock Choir and I think I enjoyed the visit even more if that’s possible. The whole experience was wonderful and you now have a shop which I spent loads in , it was just a table last time with mugs and t-shirts . If I get the chance I would sing again at Abbey Road Studios.

I was there to visit the Abbey Road Institue regarding the Advanced Diploma in Music Production and Sound Engineering. The staff were very polite and helpful, and the Studio itself was very inspiring. I had a great time!

User

I had a truly amazing and magical experience with the Rock Choir

User

I absolutely love visiting the crossing and standing outside the studios. Just knowing the history of the building, and that so much of my favourite music ever was created inside, it's magic.

User

An unique studio with an amazing history. A place of magic atmosphere.

User

An amazing experience recording at Abbey Road Studios with the Rock Choir. All the production team and staff very friendly and enthusiastic. Would certainly recommend and well worth a visit.

User

Amazing experience loved recording here with the Merseyside Rock Choir (pm group) it was something I shall remember to ever, thank you

User

All the technology that the studio 2 has definitely changed my life in all areas , walk in abbey road isn't just walk , is make history ! #radiodobach

User

Excellent atmosphere and interesting lecture!Although we had bottled water taken off us there was no provision inside the building for refreshments.4 hours is a long time inside a studio on a hot summers day!And my girlfriend wasn’t allowed back down the control room stairs (by quite a patronising staff member)even though other people could. So that’s why it’s 4 out of 5 stars.p.s.other members of staff were very helpful but for the money I paid (£215)I expected a bit more.
