Visited yesterday with my husband and our dog. Good fantastic. Staff professional and very friendly. There are very few dog friendly places at the best of times but no issues ever when visiting Whitby and coming here for a meal. I would definitely recommend for food and service to take time and visit here for a meal. Thanks carol, Martin n Charlie 👌

Visited Abbey Wharf Whitby today and loved it .. the staff were so lovely. All smiling and looking like they enjoyed their work. I had the Chicken Skewars and prawns .. I felt full half way through but it was so nice I made a complete pig of myself and ate the lot :) The hubby loved his fish & chips and said they were the best he'd had for years. Love that you are dog friendly too although we left ours at home cos he would wreck the place :D . We will definitely make it our first choice for lunch on our next visit .

User

Traditional ales and lager beers on tap a really unique location has a takeaway excellent in house restaurant and a sun terrace overlooking the river.i enjoyed haddock with chips and peas very nicely cooked and served by hard working pleasant staff ,a really good day enhanced by the beautiful spring sunshine

User

This place is lovely. After a hike up the Abbey steps it's a fantastic to sit with a refreshing drink made by themselves. The choice is very good and is worth a visit. We aim to get there every time we go to Whitby

User

The service was ok considering they were short staffed, food nice, however, don’t agree with their 8% service charge, this should be optional, we normally leave 10% of the bill, also should be separate areas for customers to eat who have dogs.

User

The best location in Whitby, with great food.

We were told to find the Abbey Wharf restaurant, and that we wouldn’t be disappointed, how very true!!!!

Great food to choose from the respective main and kids menu’s

Staff were really ultr polite, and knowledgeable too.

Food portions were plentiful, and at a price you don’t mind paying for.

If your heading to Whitby this place is a must to eat in, if you can call and reserve a table on the balcony then you’ll be impressed.

Highly recommend!!

User

Nice clean restaurant with very polite and professional staff nothing was to much for theme, and the good was amazing awesome fish and chips be warned though massive portions we went for 2 large and 2 regular portions wow big mistake!! The 2 larges should have been kept to regulars and the regular shared between the 2 smaller eater's. Nice venue with its balcony over looking the harbour. Highly recommended

User

Love this place call in every time I’m in Whitby, just had probably the best haddock and chips in Whitby at a fraction of the cost of other places in town 10/10 guys

User

Great atmosphere on an evening, we live in Whitby so we have had food at various restaurants but this is a favourite when our sons, their wives and the grandchildren visit us we eat here and it is very good and amazing views from the balcony

User

Excellent bar and restaurant, modern but with charm. Great service and excellent food, we had the cod & chips and fish cake & chips - lovely. Great outside terrace with amazing views

User

Called in Saturday evening with two other couples and it was really busy in the restaurant and the bar. We found a table for us in the bar area. On enquiring about food for six the manageress said they had 50 people imminent. They squeezed us in by the skin of their teeth. The food was lovely. I’ve since learnt that the Abbey Wharfe is one of only two places in Whitby that use fresh fish. The rest using frozen. You can tell. Praise where it’s due. Well done.

User

Been in a few times for drinks and always loved the place, views across harbour are great and on a nice day sitting on the balcony watching boats and a pint in hand is heaven. First time I've eaten there and found the food excellent, best fish and chips in a pub/restaurant I've had. Great place.

User

On entering we were met by a very polite, friendly "bouncer". We had two dogs and we were made very welcome. Advised best place to sit , best place for them to be safe. It was extremely busy, great atmosphere. Door staff very friendly and helpful. Our experience there was great.

User

If I gave them 5 stars I would be lying but they are so very very close. Sadly yesterday there was a pong in the ladies loo. Our server was a lovely lady - and helped us choose taking into account their lovely sized portions which are, frankly, too big for us. The dogs, as always loved it, Dottie loves to chase the seagulls and just does not move! We shall be back when they come back for the beach x

User

Great place to enjoy a meal n a cold drink. Nice views good atmosphere n very popular. Nice inside and out especially at night with Al the lights twinkling

User

Not eaten there but have come for years (shambles before). Always enjoyed the view and service but think the drinks are very expensive

User

No problem with the food. The food was great. However we were waiting so long to order and receive it that the couple next to us (who had arrived after us) had finished their meal before we even started ours. (I presume we were seated then forgotten about) I overheard the waitress apologise to the other couple and cancel their service due to their wait.

This was not extended to us until I ended up complaining. The staff member was polite about it and did apologise but on reflection I found the place quite expensive considering the overall service. The prospect that they have a service charge policy is pretty rich in itself considering the time it takes to recieve it.

All in all, the food was great, the staff were friendly enough but the overall service was pretty awful and disorganised. Wouldn't rush back in a hurry

User

Been coming here for years and always loved it.

This particular occasion, we were a party of 9 and told - after alot of huffing and puffing - that if we wanted to eat, we'd have to sit in the bar. Not really a problem to us but none of the tables around us were in use when we arrived, no one sat at them during our time at AW and the hostess turned numerous couples and groups away throughout our visit. If we'd been sat in the restaurant, we'd have been more inclined to spend more and leave a cash tip.

More staff than guests and the service was still very questionable. Very young team without direction; hands in pockets and not very welcoming.

The menu wasn't particularly interesting (as it has been before) and the presentation was poor. Food however, was great.

I'd been warned that it had gone downhill but didn't believe it; after this particular visit, I agree.

Visited on Monday evening, told there were no tables on the restaurant side as they had a couple reserved and that we couldn’t sit in the bar (for some unknown reason, something about spoons mumbled). Told we could wait if we wanted so got a drink and waited. In the time we were waiting, around 8 couples were turned away because there was no tables Waited 40 minutes for a table (I hadn’t realised how long we were waiting, would have left if I had) to then just be gestured over to a table and left to it. No menu was brought over and no one came over to see if we would like another drink, nothing. Two other couples got seated not long after us, given menus and left to browse. We were still waiting for a menu. Was ready to leave after 10 minutes of waiting but my partner wanted to give it a couple more minutes. 15 minutes later, still no menus, no offers of any drinks, not even someone to take an order for us to then tell them we hadn’t been given a menu. Then the two couples that were seated after us got their orders taken, so we left. The service was beyond a joke, no eye contact throughout, a gesture over when our table was ready. For the life of me I cannot figure out why we couldn’t sit in the bar. There were 10+ tables not being used and it was a quiet Monday night. You turned away 8+ couples because you had no tables, yet there was a full bar area and seating area upstairs. That’s around £30 per couple you turned away, cannot wrap my head around this, just stupid on your part really. I think you need to rethink your table arrangements for a quiet weekday evening
