APBC have always enjoyed a strong, active adult membership. We have adult players ranging from 18 to in their 70’s playing at all levels. Most adult play is during the evenings but we do offer daytime and weekend availability for members to come down and play.
We have a range of evenings suited to different styles and different standards of play. We encourage prospective new members to contact us before coming down so we can help you find the most appropriate day to suit your needs.

Junior Badminton:

For information on junior coaching please see the separate Abbeydale Badminton Academy page at https://www. facebook.com/pages /Abbeydale-Badminton-Academy /1443852232513605?fref=ts

Leagues & Teams:

If you are interested in competitive play then APBC is a good place to be. We field 20 teams; 18 teams compete in the Badminton Sheffield leagues (this is located around Sheffield and district) and 2 in the Yorkshire league (regional area, teams are from Yorkshire and the North East).
Yorkshire League is the highest standard (county and national standard players), then within the local Sheffield league there are divisions for feathers teams and divisions for plastics.
We enter a variety of teams over a broad spectrum of standards, we have women’s, men’s and combined teams ranging from social / competitive to a very high standard of competitive player.
Over the course of a season there are approximately 248 match fixtures to play; around 5 or 6 home and the same number of away games for each team. Around 124 matches are played at APBC, each match lasts 2-2. 5 hours and will involve 12 players or 16 for Yorkshire league.

Membership:

We welcome visitors to come down, play and try us out for yourself. Your first visit is free and you can visit up to 4 times before we ask you to decide whether or not you would like to become a member. Though people usually make up their mind before the fourth visit!
For the subsequent 3 visits adults pay £5 and students and juniors pay £2. 50.
Please contact us to help decide which session would be most appropriate for you to attend. If you remain unsure as to which night best fits your playing experience, we recommend visitors first come down on a Friday to join in the social evening and to see which nights are suitable for future visits.

Teams and fixtures are now available on the website. Find them on the tabs on the right of the League page (link below). The dates are also on the Google calendar. Vicky our secretary has sent out player information to captains so expect to be contacted soon to play in the teams if you are on the list. 192 local league matches on the fixture list this year so it's going to get busy. Good luck everyone! http://abbeydalebadminton.co.uk/leagues-t eams

Hi all. Our new Beginners coaching session starts this Friday 7.30-8.30 and runs for 5 weeks. The aim of the session is to introduce new players to the club to grow the membership.
I've had a great deal of interest in these sessions which is great but as I haven't taken bookings I have no idea how many players will turn up to any given session. Therefore on Fridays I will be taking as many courts as I need to give the new players a good experience. I will try and leave as muc...h room as I can for club night during these times but I will have my hands full meeting, greeting and running a session for a whole bunch of new players I've never met before.
Members, please have patience with the fact that there won't be as many courts for you to use, perhaps consider turning up a bit later than normal over the next few weeks.
Please give new players the time and space to adapt to playing at our club. You can't expect them all to be on the pace straight away and know how to move around the court etc.
Any issues or problems please come and talk to me before or after the sessions.
See you at the club!
Ian
