A beautiful Prunus Padus outside my window.This is the bird cherry tree flowering profusely as it is all over the country at this time,been watching it since spring and it is in need of thinning and a light prune.This is due to limbs being removed a few years ago, which in return has led to too many leaders and crossing branches.A sympathetic prune will enable a stronger more permanent structure to the stem and primary branches.Luckily the best time to carry out this work is ...in June. So maybe it can be pruned safely and at the right time without breaking “Lockdown” laws and basic common sense. Don’t worry about your trees unless you think they are dangerous to life. Most tree surgeons will have the knowledge and skill to bring your beautiful trees back under control when it’s safe and will not risk lives or our NHS.
