Japanese theme today at ABP... 🇯🇵
Tasty 2016 Honda Civic Type R FK2 in for installation of performance brake hoses, uprated high performance Motul brake fluid and new front and rear brake pads.
Ultra rare Litchfield Subaru Impreza JDM STi Spec C Type 20 (full title!). ABP have looked after this car since our local fastidious owner purchased the car new in 2007. Just 24,000 miles covered and it’s in today for annual MOT test, service and geometry set-up this car is a stunnin...g example of a well modded JDM lightweight Impreza. Not sure how many of these were produced but they’re certainly rare! Highlights include Porsche GT3 front brakes, huge intercooler spray in boot (note - no carpet or trims!) and roof vent amongst others - Subaru aficionados will know more I’m sure!
So which would you choose to take home and why???

RIP Niki Lauda 😢
F1 fan or not you simply can’t comprehend the immense character, bravery, courage, determination or absolute self belief & refusal to accept the cards you’ve been dealt with that Niki Lauda demonstrated. 3 times Formula One champion during a period of time when racing deaths were sadly commonplace is an awesome achievement in itself but to continue racing & winning after his horrendous accident at the Nurburgring in 1976 missing just 2 races before returning... still with horrific injuries are simply heroic actions in my opinion never repeated since. In reality Niki arguably survived 43 years longer than he should have - remember he was read his last rights in his hospital bed back in 1976! RIP heroic legend ❤️

Good morning! What a difference 50 years makes....
1967 Fiat 500F fitted with an upgraded 650cc engine and some Abarth cosmetic upgrades producing a ‘lively’ 23 BHP! Drum brakes all round, 4 speed non-synchro gearbox, transverse leaf spring front suspension, 12” tyres and the overall car is beautifully diminutive in size!
... 2017 Fiat 595 Trofeo uses a 1400cc T-Jet turbocharged engine producing 160 BHP! Disc brakes all round, coil springs and updated Koni FSD shock absorbers, 5 speed synchro gearbox, 17” tyres, alloy wheels, ABS, Power steering, Air-Conditioning, CD player & radio, Sat-Nav etc etc etc. And Fiat claim this is still a small city car!
Some call it progress and I guess they have a point as 160BHP is arguably far more usable than the 23BHP in the original 500...
What do you all think - New or Old? 🇮🇹
Have a great weekend 👍

We finish a busy week with an MOT test on this cool Land Rover Defender 90 with the fantastic Twisted P10 conversion. Loads of really effective upgrades fitted by Twisted improve the Defender both mechanically and visually which we think looks great. Have a great weekend 👍

Always an absolute pleasure to see this stunning Ferrari F430 Spider at ABP for its annual MOT test. With the sun shining is there a better car out there on a day like today 🇮🇹 ☀️ Celebrating its 10th Birthday this year this 2009 F430 has covered just 2,753 miles 😳 Beautiful colour, fantastic spec with lots of carbon trim and ceramic brakes it’s a very special car. Needless to say it passed its MOT test& and hopefully the customer will use it more this year although I’m su...re we could all volunteer to help with that! Where would you take it for the perfect Ferrari road trip???

I'm sure a lot of you will have seen this 1970 #plymouth #gtx #bbody here at ABP over the last 18 months (it did go and the owner came up with more work to do so it came back) well following a full overhaul of #transmission #engine #interior #suspension #brakes and #fuel system it's off to #ibiza until #autumn to be enjoyed in the summer sun. It's fresh built 490hp #Mopar #440/6 #v8 needs some warm weather to be enjoyed as it should.. this rain makes it a handful. Today we waved goodbye to it.. and it'll arrive in Ibiza on #Sunday. Safe travels.! @ ABP Motorsport

Suns shining and this absolute weapon is in for MOT today. Westfield with tuned Honda S2000 engine running a claimed 300BHP in just 724KG!!! 😳 Stunning example of a serious kit car and only one for the brave 👍

Newcastle Road still remains closed just outside ABP due to the emergence of a massive sink-hole! Road diversion signs are in place but not as clear as they could be.... *DIRECTIONS* If approaching from the Hough / M6 direction ignore the initial road closure signs as you can still get to us. If coming from the Nantwich / Shavington / Crewe direction please follow the diversion signs through either Wybunbury and then Hough or via Basford & Hough.

Happy Easter to all ABP customers, suppliers and friends. Have a great long bank holiday weekend 👍

The importance of engine oil.... Here are some pictures of a car we recently had in which had the engine oil warning light illuminated on the dashboard. The oil warning light is not an oil level warning light (like is often mistakenly thought) but a warning light generated by dangerously low oil pressure in the engine often caused by very low oil levels or issues associated with likely damage caused by lack of lubrication often linked with neglect and low oil levels. A car ...we’ve not seen before it did display the initial sounds of engine bearing damage so we suspected an oil flow issue and removed the sump assembly. As you can see from the attached pictures the gauze is the oil pump pick up and is heavily clogged with thick sludge and also if you look closely many shiny metallic particles which are sadly from the cars crankshaft bearings! This clogging up of the oil pump pick up caused oil starvation, lack of the required oil pressure and subsequent engine damage. On further investigation and research we established the engine had been fitted with the incorrect viscosity and specification of oil which was the likely cause of the failure as the oil which had been used couldn’t cope with the high demands of this particular modern engine type. An expensive and totally avoidable scenario if the correct oil had been used by the garage who had previously serviced this vehicle.
Not only is changing your engine oil regularly vitally important for the health and longevity of your cars engine but it also has a massive impact on its ability to perform correctly, efficiently, give the optimised performance and offer you the best potential MPG. Check the correct viscosity of engine oil is being used which is vitally important but also of equal importance is the correct grade and ability to match manufacturer specific requirements. Gone are the days of just needing 1 or 2 oils in stock to cover all cars - ABP now carry 19 different oils in stock which cover approximately 98% of vehicles on the road today and the ones we don’t have covered we can get delivered the same day. So the message is keep a close eye on your oil level (we recommend checking on a weekly basis), change your engine oil at the correct manufacturer recommended intervals and ALWAYS use the correct grade & specification for your specific engine type.

Beautiful Ford Mustang 5.0 GT convertible in this morning for the installation of a K&N Typhoon air filter intake kit. Not only does this kit tidy the engine bay up & give the car some lovely intake noise it also brings a very healthy (manufacturer claimed) additional +19bhp! In anyone’s book that’s a Win Win! We stock the full range of K&N air filter intake kits for most cars so please call us with your requirements 👍

You may recall from the start of the month we were having an ABP February Facial Hair month and here we are on the 28th so let’s check out the growth.... Not bad for 4 weeks - we particularly like our young apprentices pure clean chiselled chin with minimal growth! Now - where’s the razor!!! The question we’re now faced with is - Should they be kept or shaved off???
