In case you missed them, here are our utterly fabulous Hands & Voices choir performing '500 miles' at A Night To Remember. Another huge thanks to Big Ian for inviting us to be part of the event. And to everyone in the audience who became part of our choir for the night!
Hands & Voices are only able to create magical moments like this because of the support of our funders and people like you.
You can make sure magic like this keeps happening by making a regular donation to support the choir: https://www.aamedia.org.uk/support-…/mo re-than-just-a-choir/

We can't tell you how much we loved having Matilda with us for two weeks as part of her work placement. She was an absolute star, helping out in the office, leading warm-up exercises at our Junior & Senior IMPs and coming along to watch Hands & Voices perform at York Barbican.
We're so glad to hear she had just as good a time too 💜

Have you got your odd socks on to celebrate #worlddownsyndromeday? We'd love to see your socks too - post a pic in our comments!

Have you been watching BBC 2's The Choir - Our School by the Tower? We thought it was an incredibly moving programme following the journey of pupils and staff at Kensington Aldridge Academy after the Grenfell Towers tragedy.
The programme perfectly captures the powerful and positive way that singing and performance can be used to help young people express and share their feelings around really difficult topics. 👏👏👏

We had an absolute blast at A Night To Remember last night! Hands & Voices absolutely loved being on the big stage in front of the incredible 1300-strong crowd at York Barbican. They treated us all to a rendition of The Proclaimers' classic '500 miles', teaching the audience how to sign along to the chorus. It was another magical Hands & Voices performance, with a well-deserved standing ovation!
A huge thank you again to Big Ian for inviting us and putting on such an incredib...le night. And thanks to all of the musicians, tech crew, bucket shakers and all-round awesome people who gave their time for free to raise money for local charities. Every member of Hands & Voices who was on stage last night will remember it for a long time to come.
If you'd like to make sure Hands & Voices can keep creating magic moments like this, please consider signing up to our sponsor a place scheme.
For as little as £1 a week you can make sure the choir members keep singing, signing, laughing and learning together.
And that's pretty incredible!

🏃‍♀️ Places are filling up fast for our York 10K this year! But don't worry, all you have to do to get yours is sign up to raise at least £150 for AAM. Simples! 🏃‍♂️
And honestly, if these guys can do it so can you! Our fab team walked, ran or did a mix of both to get around the course last year.
We'll also provide you with some great training tips and motivation, and support your fundraising every step of the way.
... Let us know you'd like to join us on Sunday, August the 4th by clicking on the link below: https://www.aamedia.org.uk/contact-us/run -for-all

We've been loving listening to Pat's story and working with on her biography as part of our Life Stories project. Though we're not sure it's going to be possible to capture Pat's life in a single book!

Did anyone catch the beautiful BBC programme travelling blind on BBC Two last week?
Sara Pascoe joins Amar Latif to explore Turkey together. Amar has been blind for 20 years and on this trip, Sara is his sighted guide. If you missed it it's currently on BBC iPlayer and is definitely worth a watch.

We'd like to say a big welcome to Matilda who's joined us for her work placement for the next two weeks. She'll be working alongside our IMPs team helping out in the office and in our IMPs sessions. She's even brought the rainbows with her! 🌈

A great big thank you to one of our most ardent supporters who came in to see Rose last week and present her with a check for £25. All raised by collecting loose change in a jar! Thank you, we think you're AAM-azing!! 💜💜

Find out more about the work we've been delivering as part of NYMAZ's Play It Loud programme funded by Youth Music. We've absolutely loved being part of this work and seeing the difference it's made to the young people at Henshaws Specialist College.
As our iMUSE facilitator, Hannah says: “It is brilliant to be able to see the changes first hand for these young people, to see them begin to make choices, feel calm, and express themselves creatively in this environment is great”

Huge congratulations to one of our former senior IMPs, George Moore, who's only gone and reached the last 10 in Minster FM's search for a star! Search for a star is Minster FM's competition to find a new co-host for their breakfast show.
George is now through to the next round where he'll be interviewed by Minster FM's big boss. Huge good luck George, we've got all our fingers and toes crossed. We'd love to listen to you on the breakfast show!
