Our final update from our trip to Romania

We're off to Romania soon to help the poor children!
With the help of Mirela Marcu who lives in Romania, Dave, myself and the children are going to Romania in December to give 50 or more children a shoebox full of Christmas gifts and essentials. Our children will sing traditional British Christmas carols to them too! Each box will contain hat, gloves, scarf (Winters are bitter), cuddly toy, washbag, toothbrush, toothpaste, flannel, comb, soap, pencil case, pens, pencils, co...louring pencils, eraser, sharpener, ruler, notepad, sweets and toys such as small bouncy balls/skipping ropes etc. In addition, boys will receive a small toy car (we had enough for girls to get one too so that's great!) and girls some hair accessories and make-up. We will also give the children a snuggle blanket. A few other children will receive shoes/slippers.
We have been buying many of the above over the past year or so but are still in need of more. If you're able to help these dear little children to feel loved and receive much needed essentials, you would really be making a difference. The children live in a poor village where only irregular low paid employment is available (just 10 euros per day). Thank you for your kindness.
Update (10 December 2017)
We've received some wonderful donations both physical and monetary which has helped greatly. So far we've sorted, organised and packed: gift bags (although we're still short of 5 for boys), snuggle blankets (Nanny has been incredibly busy cutting and sewing!), washbags, pencil cases and some footwear. The washbags will eventually contain a flannel, bar of soap, comb, toothbrush and toothpaste together with jewellery for both boys and girls and make-up for girls (glittery powder for the younger girls and real 'grown up' make-up for the older girls). Pencil cases will contain colouring pencils, a pencil, pen, eraser, ruler, pencil sharpener, game and toy car plus some other bits which have included a yo-yo for 11 of the boys. I'm always amazed how much time is absorbed!
Now it's time to double check all the hats, gloves & scarves before vacuum packing them. The dear little teddy bears and soft toys will also need to have all the air sucked out of them too! It's certainly looking like we'll need to upgrade the hire car and our luggage allowance (again!). Any further financial donations would be much appreciated should you wish to help. More happy guests - how wonderful!
It was a lovely surprise to find a card, bottle of delicious red wine and some (more) treats for our rescue dogs when I went to clean The Railway Carriage after our recent guests. We are so privileged to meet such great people in this business.

Follyfest starts in two days! - Faringdon's annual music & entertainment festival starts this Friday. With live music Friday evening, all day Saturday and all day Sunday, it's an event which features firmly on the calendars of many locals and people from the surrounding areas. The line up of bands is better than ever and the weather looks good so why not get yourself to Faringdon for a guaranteed weekend of brilliant music?
