Hi there. I'm Alexa Sage and I'm an accordionist who loves to play music, write music and listen to music. Some of you may well have already bought some of my sheet music or maybe my album - and thank you to every one of you who did.
Since selling my own music online, I've come to realise from some of your messages and emails that it can be difficult to get hold of a variety of good quality accordion music. And that some of you who create your own music want to sell it too so that others can benefit from your hard work and passion.
I believe that music is a very valuable experience to have in life. Unfortunately it can seem these days that musicians and the music they create are expected to exist and be available for free at all times to everyone. And yes, music can be a beautiful gift for those who choose to give it away as that. But if we continue down this path where musicians' work is not recognised or compensated for, then we risk making music an unsustainable experience to create. That would leave us without new music to listen to or new tunes to learn and play.
I think there's a way we can make this work for everyone. I am building an online marketplace at AccordionMarket.com where accordion fans can buy and sell digital music. We can build an infinite library of recordings and sheet music all dedicated to the accordion. Musicians can sell their music directly at a price of their choosing (including as a free gift), and fans can access the exact music they're after whilst supporting musicians to be able to produce even more music at the same time.
And the best thing about this is, it's all digital. All through mp3s and PDFs and other file types. So you can upload your work instantly to sell it and download it instantly to buy it. No waiting around for a postal delivery or worrying about sending out lots of items.
