We know many people are asking you to like pages at the moment, but we’ve been working on this project for the last 6 months behind the scenes.
We’d really appreciate if you gave Uncharted Business a like - it will be a resource for both new and growing businesses, providing support not only on our typical tax/accounts, but also marketing, HR and legal help for your business.
We’ll be an online coach for your business, providing tips and tricks to help you through the current situation and be in a position to launch/grow on the other side.

Once again we have breaking news on a Friday evening - just as we thought it safe to pour a large and well-deserved glass of wine!
Thanks to The HR Dept - Torbay and Ivybridge for sharing this but here are the long awaited guidelines on the step-by-step guide for employers on the Job Retention scheme claims through the online system which opens on Monday.
Helena will be going through it in detail during our Monday Q&A at 10.30am,... however at first read it seems in line with everything that’s been published so far:
• You will need to make your claim all in one go, so make sure you have all the information ready. • There is no ‘save and return’ function • Claims paid in six working days
In addition, the Job retention scheme has also been extended by an extra month to 30th June 😀
Have a good weekend!

Daily #Coronavirus Q&A with James and Helena

*BREAKING NEWS* HMRC have now released the detail of how they are calculating 'trading profits' for the Self-employment Income Support Scheme.
We're incredibly frustrated to hear that they WILL be deducting capital allowances from the calculation of the grant - therefore if you have claimed 100% tax relief on a van or equipment, this will, unfairly, reduce the grant being received.

Today's Update from the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak:
❌ No changes to current policy 🙁
However, we have now joined with over 200 Accountancy practices across the UK and Countingup Bank, to sign an open letter to the Chancellor.
... The key issues flagged are: - Directors on dividends - Small businesses with directors remunerated primarily through dividends need financial support. We estimate that some 90% of all limited companies have just one director and are likely to be using dividends as a primary source of income.
- New self-employed - Those self-employed sole traders who set up after 6 April 2019 need financial support. We estimate there are hundreds of thousands of these new entrepreneurs who face their business being crushed just as it has got started.
- Historic profits over £50k - Self-employed sole traders who historically had tradable profits of over £50,000 and, due to the impact of Covid-19, now have zero or much lower tradeable profits, need financial support.
We are also chasing urgent clarification of the definition of 'trading profits' being used for the self-employed grant and also emphasised the urgency of these grants.
We'll post the full letter as soon as it is finalised.
