With an increasing number of certified Passivhaus buildings in the UK, the conference looks towards The Future of Passivhaus with a focus on social housing and education projects.

New Passivhaus Proof of Concept project for Community Health Partnerships
Accredited Passivhaus Design, part of The Tooley & Foster Partnership, has been appointed to carry out a Passivhaus Proof of Concept project for Community Health Partnerships, a part of the NHS. Based on the Passivhaus analysis of a recently built health centre in Coventry, this project seeks to establish that building new health centres to the Passivhaus standard will be cost effective over a period of 25 years. By assisting GPs to move to energy efficient new health centres, improved services can be delivered to patients.

APD supports Passivhaus Goes Personal campaign
APD, part of The Tooley & Foster Partnership, is a partner in the Passivhaus Trust's new Passivhaus Goes Personal campaign. The campaign is aimed at anyone contemplating building their own home.
A short video and brochure outline the many benefits that building to Passivhaus Standard can bring. Peter Ranken, our Certified Passivhaus Designer, is interviewed in the video.

Planning approval granted for new East London Passivhaus homes
Accredited Passivhaus Design has gained planning permission for two new four-bedroom homes, which will be the first Passivhaus dwellings in the London Borough of Redbridge.
The three-storey houses are on a corner plot in Ilford, East London. The clients’ brief, when appointing APD, was for a contemporary design solution, which the Redbridge planners endorsed.
... APD’s Certified Passivhaus Designer is Architect Peter Ranken, who said: “For this prominent infill site the planners were keen to see modern design as an exemplar for other developments in the area.
“This pair of semi-detached houses present gabled elevations to the street, and the conjoined-twin plan gives a single gable to the rear. With metal and brick cladding, and triple-glazed windows, they give a stylish contrast to the much altered Victorian houses nearby.”
Both houses are designed to be certified to the Passivhaus standard, which requires vigorous quality control on site and ensures high levels of comfort with no draughts, minimal thermal bridging and even internal surface temperatures.
The heating costs for these houses will be around £200 per year – a radiator and two towel rails will heat each house even in mid-winter.
Construction work is due to start in Spring 2017.
