What I’d really like for my birthday is a waterproof solar powered or wind powered hoover . Whilst running the B&B is great for farm diversification - I’m looking at new ways of keeping energy usage down. I’d be more than happy to strip back to basics with a broom and hard floors but it’s just not economically viable to change all the flooring in the house. Eventually, I’m hoping everyone will be outside camping/glamping but for now I’m looking at new ideas for 2019 to keep e...xcessive energy usage down. I’m also giving guests the option of bringing their own duvet and towels. I’m not quite sure when the hospitality industry or ourselves got such high expectations with immaculately perfect accommodation? I like the idea of having a farm house lodge , a bit more basic with lower expectations - air bnb is great for this , but booking.com is the biggest platform. If anyone has any more realistic ideas on how to reduce energy usage , (4 min shower signs-are already up) , your comments are welcomed ..... It's days like today when we wake up to a beautiful frosty morning at Acklam Farm Stays that we remember just how passionate we are about our livelihood and how important we believe it is to rear sheep on a healthy landscape.
We gave the sheep some hay, which was cut last summer, to tuck in to to help them over winter. Our working border collie bran is never far away and always with a watchful eye. Free Range Orchard reared Gilt Pork at Acklam Farm Stays We are selling our Free Range Orchard reared Gilt Pork. Saddleback x Large White. You can buy half a pig or a quarter of a pig. There are 4 halves or 8 quarters available to buy. This is on a first come first served basis. Our female pigs have been reared in our orchard over the summer and had their feed supplemented with windfall apples & vegetable peelings. The cost is £4 a kg. The bigger pigs will be approx. £120 a ...Half and £60 a Quarter. The meat will include: Leg Shoulder Loin or chops or both. Belly Liver Trotter Cheek If you’d like to add Sausages there will be an extra charge. We will take a deposit of £20 if you’d like to buy some pork. Deliveries can be made locally (within 10 miles). Acklam Farm Stays is now selling Spring Lamb. We are taking orders for a halve or whole lamb this August. The lamb will be ready the first week in September. All our spring lambs are free range and grass fed outdoors on a healthy landscape. We value dealing directly with the customer, so we are able to offer a good quality locally sourced produce for a fair price @ £6.60 per kg. At finished meat weight, a whole lamb boxed up weighs between 18 - 24kg. We take orders over the phone, one box fits half a lamb as per picture. Deliveries within 10 miles.
