Ackworth Road Runners

Entries for the 2020 Ackworth Half Marathon now open. Date - 13 April (Easter Monday 9:30 start). This year all finishers will receive a superb bespoke medal. Entries through Racebest https://racebest.com/races/sr8r9

A soggy Saturday morning, a rugby match and Sunday racing took their toll on parkrun numbers although 60 did turn out - albeit some on distant shores (Australia, USA and France). Unsurprisingly no pbs, just one 12 month best (Tim Owen in Oz) and one new course best at Frickley (Simon Bennett). Six brave members tackled the Snowdonia Marathon - thankfully the snow line was above the course elevation! Three stayed at a lower elevation on the Leeds - Liverpool Canal - 2 complet...ing the Hubble Bubble Half Marathon and 1 the 10k. Becci Winter is holidaying in Texas but still managed to pick up 1st Female and 2nd overall in a half marathon. Sunday was Grand Prix day at the Wistow 10k - 31 members participating. A flat course turned out to be rather challenging due to frequent flooded sections of the country lanes and a bit of a headwind at times. Two new pb's though. The Leeds Abbey Dash attracted 21 members and conditions proved good enough for 10 of them to record new pbs. Sarah Hunter is moving closer to a sub 38 minutes. last but not least 3 members were at the Worksop Halloween Half - not the easiest course around but usually a great T shirt. PPS - Two of our new members participated in the Hubble Bubble 10k - Ryan Aubrey and Liam Saddler - 1st and 3rd respectively! James Roberts logged the first Cross Country run of the season at the Furty Furlong 3.75m. Stewart

Autumn handicap results now available via the club web site. Another massively successful night with 95 members and 20 guests - 16 from Danum Harriers. The overall winner was Tim Owen and Kayleigh Hopkinson was first female - trophies to be presented at next February's Awards night. Just over 50% beat their handicap time.
