‘The Short’
The course explores the essential skills required to act in film and television. ‘The Short’ provides students with Method acting intensive classes within a short film production environment. Students will prepare a role for and be part of the cast in a short film. The production of the short is inclusive in the course work. Students will tackle the creation of ‘material’ for the screen while developing believable characters. The course centres in Lee Strasberg METHOD Acting practice and teachings, digested in an intensive fashion. The course is perfect for professionals who need a bust in there acting spontaneity and technique, semi professionals looking to develop their knowledge and skill and experienced amateur actors who want to dive deeply into the world of METHOD Acting.

Preparation: We recommend that students come to the course prepared so they can make the most out of it. An information and preparation pack is sent to the participants upon enrolment.

Creation of ‘The Material’: Participants will be able to test their creative writing skills during two of the sessions. They will also be introduced to methods of writing for the screen that will enhance their ability create film material. Through improvisation workshops and textual analysis, students explore the process of creating the plot while developing the short. All the material produced during ‘The Short’ will be filmed.

METHOD Acting: Relaxation. Concentration. To explore and create the character from within the self, based on past experiences, feelings and emotions in search of the 'truth' of the actor. The course is taught through a series of workshops focused on Lee Strasberg’s work.

The SHORT: The course works towards the production of a short film which will be the final result of the learning process; plot, character creation, exploration and experimentation of the techniques used in Method Acting. The course is design to produce a short piece of high quality.

Workshops: Students explore various acting techniques, METHOD Acting, improvisation, voice control, movement, textual analysis, physical theatre. The course encourages exploration and experimentation.

Selection Process: Applications for enrolment are be followed by a rigorous selection process. HEKATE Film Works aims at selecting only those candidates who are fully committed to produce a quality piece by focusing entirely in the course throughout its total duration. This includes the preparation for the course due prior it starting day.
