Action Bikes

Very poor. Worst cycle shop I've ever had to step foot in. Staff unfriendly and had no interest in helping.

Had a service, new cassette and chain fitted but gears were terribly calibrated, couldn't get into front big ring when I picked up the bike and it clearly hadn't been test ridden or even tested. Rear gears were also slipping a lot. Took it back a couple of days later and the service was rude with no apology from anyone. Even after that it's still not running smoothly and can't get into the big ring from some gears - I know how to tweak the limits etc but whatever they have done is beyond me. Will likely have to take it somewhere else. Overall very disappointing and can't recommend them - you pay these prices to avoid this kind of hassle.

I went in with a flat tyre and a staff member repeatedly asked for my phone number, and acted rudely when I said I didn't want to give it to him. He fixed my tyre but fiddled with my brakes and now they rub against the wheel, as I was leaving he told me the bike needed a service. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Went in because my back wheel was acting up. They fixed the issue in 5 minutes - no payment - just because they are nice people.

Having worked in the Charing Cross area for years, I've been going to this shop for years. Always been happy with their service, the staff have always been friendly & knowledgeable. (They're dropping a star 'cos after the last service I had done 2 days ago, there's still a problem that needs to be resolved, but I'm confident they'll handle it appropriately.)

Friendly staff, Life savers! I forgot my lock and they looked after my bike when I had a meeting and forgot my bike lock. Thanks a lot!

Positive: it's convenient, some staff friendly. Negative: it's overpriced compared to many shops, some staff rude. Sold me a bike light to get me home, assured it was charged, it wasn't.

What a wonderful bike shop Action Bikes is. They have a great range of products, and the best, most helpful staff I have ever met. Went in for a service, and came back with a bike that has never felt better to ride! Fully recommend

Visiting London from overseas, this was the ONLY bike shop in the city where I could find a good selection of bike jerseys with british motifs - i.e. british beers, marmite, map of the underground, union jack, etc. OK, so it's not everyone's first criteria for a good bike shop, but I was thrilled. They also sell water bottles with similar themes. If you're a visiting cyclist and looking for a souvenir to take home and impress your mates, this is the place.

I recently bought a carbon road bike, which was a big leap from my normal choice. David, the Manager at Action, gave great advice, didn't rush me, and having talked about my needs, components, technology & options & changed some of the spec. over weeks before delivery - I got just what I wanted at a great price. I've been totally impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of all the team. If I have the slightest issue I go in store at Embankment and feel welcomed & my concerns quickly sorted. Their workshop, under Russell, just 'want to help', are warm and are clearly highly skilled. No matter what your need & budget - an absolutely top Central London cycle store.
