Wow...what a week it’s been! Every day has brought a new challenge and it’s been great to meet new people and secure further bookings in the diary! There are some exciting announcements coming in the next week or two...watch this space!

Today I am excited to introduce Activate Safeguarding Resolutions Associate practitioner: Amy Cross
Amy specialises in the mental and emotional health of offenders and substance misusers and brings with her a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise in her field:
After gaining a first-class honours degree in mental health nursing at Northumbria University, Amy spent the first ten years of her career as a NMC registered nurse.
... Amy has spent the past 10 years within the NHS where she has worked in partnership the police, children and adult social care, schools, youth offending, housing providers and other organisations to support the needs of some of the most vulnerable people in the North East.
Amy has provided support to colleagues and partner providers to understand and meet the needs of this challenging client group whilst effectively assessing needs and risk.
Amy has worked closely with young people who display harmful sexualised behaviours and those who have committed sexual offences. She has supported services to understand how best to meet emotional and mental health needs of the client and reduce the risk of their offending. This is done whilst simultaneously and effectively safeguarding the needs of vulnerable people and assessing the risk these vulnerabilities attract.
Amy has been educated to Level 7 in Practice Development and has qualifications in facilitating learning in practice, assessment and management of risk and crisis, as well as interventions in severe and enduring mental health.
Amy can offer professional supervision with regards to child protection and other safeguarding issues that would meet the requirements of professional bodies (NMC) and for revalidation and appraisal purposes.
Furthermore, she can offer advice and support in report writing and presenting information within the court arena and to other professional bodies.
Amy is able to assess alternative options for engaging hard to reach clients enabling a greater understanding of their needs and reducing risks with expertise in, but not limited to: Young People Experiencing or Exhibiting Sexual Behaviour Understanding Sex Offenders and Behavioural Analysis Working with Partners and Families of Sex Offenders Dialectic Behaviour Therapy Specialist Safeguarding Supervision
In her personal life Amy is wife to Craig and the mother of three children. She is an active member of the local scouting group, supporting the delivery of activities, and positively engaged in fundraising and executive developments within the troop.
