Activities For Health Occupational Therapy Description

Activities for Health, based in Devon, offers bespoke training and consultancy, and helps care homes to become ‘CQC Inspection-ready’ in their Activity Provision.

Activities for Health is the brain-child of Heather Manktelow. Heather is an Occupational Therapist whose specialist area has always been getting people involved in activities, because this helps people to be healthy and stay healthy… no matter what disabilities people have… Activities for Health.

Heather has worked across a range of client groups in the community, supported living, hospitals and care homes, including experience with physical & psychiatric disability, learning disability, brain injury, and dementia.

For four years Heather worked in a Nursing Home for people living with dementia, mental health problems and challenging behaviour, organising and facilitating a full and creative programme of activities; raising quality of life for all the residents.

Previous to this she worked in a psychiatric hospital, and supported learning disability clients to live in the community. In both positions she helped people to become as independent as possible in activities of daily living, and helped them into employment and leisure activities that are meaningful to them.

Heather is now on a mission to share her expertise in activities and share Best Practice, especially to people perceived by others to be ‘hard to engage’ in activities.

Bespoke packages can be put together to meet your needs.

Heather is also available for public speaking including in educational settings to help raise awareness and understanding of Occupational Therapy, activity provision and dementia.
