It's the @justacard Independent Week which celebrates small independent businesses, local makers, artists and creators and today is about sharing 10 facts about me.
1. I'm Suzanne, youngest of 3, live in Kent 2. I have one son who’s nearly 3.5y and two stepsons in their mid-twenties 3. I worked in a fish & chip shop in my teens... 4. Before I had my son, I worked for the same company for 15 years. In my last role I was travelling from Kent to Newcastle almost weekly 5. I started horse riding when I was 4 and eventually ended up spending all my weekends competing at show-jumping and eventing 6. I only did a short time at college and didn’t go to university; I just wanted to go straight out to work 7. I love box sets and will often have Netflix going whilst I’m working – any recommendations welcome 8. I started wearing glasses when I was 18 and hated it so had them lasered in my mid-twenties. 9. I really dislike cooking and get annoyed with the question ‘what’s for dinner?’ (maybe sometimes unreasonably so). 10. I am so excited about Christmas!!!

The JUST A CARD campaign aims to encourage people to buy from Designer/Makers and Independent Galleries and Shops by reinforcing the message that all purchases, however small, even 'just a card' are so vital to the prosperity and survival of small businesses.
The campaign came about when Artist & Designer Sarah Hamilton saw the quote "If everyone who'd complimented our beautiful gallery had bought 'just a card' we'd still be open" by store keepers who'd recently closed the...ir gallery. This prompted a call to action! Designer/Makers and independent shops and galleries need a voice. People seldom realise the considerable costs involved in exhibiting at design shows or keeping a shop open. Stand fees, power, materials, wages etc need to be met before even a penny of profit can be realised. Running a shop is often a labour of love. Without dedication and passion, and crucially sales, it would be another boarded up eyesore.

I've just set up a holztiger subscription and I love it! I had to contact the team to clarify a couple of bits when I set it up and the customer service was quick and brilliant and my queries were easily dealt with �

I ordered a set of Lanka Kade... the help and customer service was fantastic and we are delighted with the toys (and still rationing them out!) Completely recommend �����

I have a holztiger subscription and it’s fantastic! Also brought Lanka kade animals for a present, as it’s so reasonable priced. Brought some bargain Tegu and now they are stocking Grimms! Great prices and great customer service, highly recommend.

I commented on a post to say I would love something when it came into stock and Suzanne messaged me to say she had kept me one and did I still want it when it did - you can't get better customer service than that! My boys also love their monthly holztiger subscription!
