Chapter 4 of the Affirmation document is on the doctrine of Six-day Creation. A recent article by Answers in Genesis shows how some of the influential and well-known evangelical and Reformed pastors and leaders are dangerously weak on this doctrine. Hence, it proves the need to evangelicals to be watchful and to affirm this truth. AiG article:

Affirmation 2010 - www.affirmation-2010.org PENAL SUBSTITUTION ================================== “Trembling sinner, look to Jesus” by Charles H. Spurgeon ==================================... “Trembling sinner, look to Jesus, and thou art saved. Dost thou say, ‘My sins are many’? His atonement is wondrous. Dost thou cry, ‘My heart is hard’? Jesus can soften it. Dost thou exclaim, ‘Alas, I am so unworthy’? Jesus loves the unworthy. Dost thou feel, ‘I am so vile’? It is the vile Jesus came to save. Down with thee, sinner; down, down with thyself, and up with Christ, who hath suffered for thy sins upon Calvary’s cross.
Turn thine eye thither; see Jesus only. He suffers. He bleeds. He dies. He is buried. He rises again. He ascends on high. Trust Him, and thou art safe. Give up all other trusts, and rely on Jesus alone, alone on Jesus, and thou shalt pass from death unto life.
This is the sure sign, the certain evidence of the Spirit’s indwelling, of the Father’s election, of the Son’s redemption, when the soul is brought simply and wholly to rest and trust in Jesus Christ, who ‘hath once suffered for sins, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God.’”
–Charles H. Spurgeon, “Our Suffering Substitute: A Sermon on 1 Peter 3:18,” originally published in The Sword and The Trowel Magazine (1895),

Six-day Creation @ www.affirmation-2010.org ----------------------------------------- ------------ We affirm the historicity of the biblical account of Creation, found in the early chapters of Genesis.(1) Creation is God’s supernatural act (2) whereby, in the beginning (3) and at His Word or immediate command,(4) He brought, out of nothing, everything into existence,(5) and this in the space of six literal, twenty-four hour days.(6)
We reject the theory of evolution (both thei...stic and atheistic), even as we deny all attempts to interpret Genesis according to modern scientific theories, as in the case of the “Day-Age Theory” (making the six days to be long and indefinite periods of time).

THE DOCTRINE OF GRACE ================ "But if the whole man is subject to the dominion of sin, surely the will, which is its principal seat, must be bound with the closest chains. And, indeed, if divine grace were preceded by any will of ours, Paul could not have said that 'it is God which worketh in us both to will and to do,' (Philip. 2: 13.) Away, then, with all the absurd trifling which many have indulged in with regard to preparation." --John Calvin "No more soul-destroying doctrine could well be devised than the doctrine that sinners can regenerate themselves, and repent and believe just when they please." --Charles Hodge

The Holy Trinity =========================== It was the whole Trinity, which at the beginning of creation said, “Let us make man” (Gen. 1:26). It was the whole Trinity again, which at the beginning of the Gospel seemed to say, “Let us save man” (Mt. 3:16-17). (John C. Ryle)
The doctrine of the Trinity is basic to the Christian religion. It is no exaggeration to assert that the whole of Christianity stands or falls with it. (Rienk B. Kuiper)
... Nothing will so enlarge the intellect and magnify the whole soul of man as a devout, earnest, continued investigation of the whole subject of the Trinity. (Charles H. Spurgeon)

Relevant Quotes for Affirmation Chapters: On Scripture ===================================== The true Christian was intended by Christ to prove all things by the Word of God, all churches, all ministers, all teaching, all preaching, all doctrines, all sermons, all writings, all opinions, all practices. These are his marching orders. Prove all by the Word of God; measure all by the measure of the Bible; compare all with the standard of the Bible; weigh all in the balances of the Bible; examine all by the light of the Bible; test all in the crucible of the Bible. That which cannot abide the fire of the Bible, reject, refuse, repudiate, and cast away. This is the flag which he nailed to the mast. May it never be lowered! (John Wycliffe)

1. Infallibility of Scripture
We affirm that God has supernaturally revealed to man objective truth. General revelation comes through the universe God has made1 and through the nature of man, made in God’s image.2 But special revelation has been given in a ... variety of ways (by angels, dreams, voices, and the like), climaxing in the revelation of God in Christ, which is both perfect and complete.3 This revelation has been permanently secured in the scriptural record by the process of inspiration, whereby God “breathed out”, or caused to proceed from Him, the writings which now make up the Holy Bible.4 The resultant product was the infallible Word of God, without any mixture of error in either doctrine or in fact.5 The 66 books of the Bible were recognized by the Lord’s people as inspired and, by these books’ own testimony, they became the divine rule by which all beliefs and practices were to be tried and tested.6 God, by His singular care and providence, has preserved His written Word.7 The authentic and preserved Texts are the Hebrew Masoretic and Greek Received Texts, and these are the Texts which underlie the Authorized Version, which is by far the best and most accurate English translation of God’s infallible and inerrant Word currently in use. We reject modern and unfaithful versions, based upon corrupted texts and making free use of dynamic equivalence in the translation. 1 Psalm 19:1-6; Romans 1:18-23 2 Genesis 1:26; Romans 2:14,15; 3 John 1:14; Hebrews 1:1, 2 4 2 Timothy 3:16,17; Hebrews 3:7 5 Psalm 119:160; Daniel 10:21; John 10:35 6 Isaiah 8:20; 34:16; Matthew 22:29; Acts 17:2 7 Psalm 119:152,160; Isaiah 40:8; 59:21; Matthew 24:35; 1 Peter 1:24,25

Spirit of Affirmation 2010: "If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are attacking at that moment, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ. Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved, and to be steady on all battlefields besides, is mere flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point." (Words ascribed to Martin Luther)

We call upon all who love the Truth to join with us in making this formal affirmation of Faith, and we pray God to use it to the overthrow of false doctrine and practice. “When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.” Isaiah 59:19
