About Afriaccess

AFRIAccess was an idea that unravelled in stages, from the initial connection with young creatives living and hustling in Kibera, one of Africa's largest slums to conceiving the AFRIAccess. Our founder, witnessing them doing so much with little to no support, wanted to be of assistance. Our Founder, a Kenyan, who came to the UK as an Asylum Seeker when she was a young girl, was inspired by the creativity, the richness of the diverse cultures, and the perseverance of the people she met in Kibera. The experience reminded her of when Kwame Nkrumah poignantly said, ‘I am not African because I was born in Africa, I am African because Africa was born in me'. We are the diaspora, reconnecting with Africans to Create; Connect; Collaborate in building the infrastructure that will support the next generation of African Designers, Makers & Crafts people. So, it is with this sense of appreciation and inspiration that we want to challenge the aid model of development, instead, we will showcase the craftsmanship and ingenuity of young African artisans and marginalised women through the production and distribution of African inspired Art | Accessories | lifestyle products. We are developing a circular economy that promotes sustainability, economic independence & social mobility through delivery of fair trade, hand curated, quality products made by Africans for the global market. Join the AFRIAccess journey & support the sustainability cause.
