Here are some rare photos of one of our leopard tortoise females digging a hole in which to lay her clutch of eggs. Leopard tortoises can lay between 5 to 18 eggs in each clutch and have an incubation period of around 14 months. In order to ensure the eggs are safe and to improve their chances of hatching successfully, they have been put into one of our incubators, where they will be checked and monitored daily by the animal keeping staff

User

Went there yesterday for husband's birthday. We had an amazing time!! Facilities were great, staff so helpful, friendly and informative. Animals were gorgeous and so obviously well cared for and happy, especially the African Grey Parrots and the meerkats. Had us in stitches. Shame the train wasn't working, but just meant we walked more. The lake was gorgeous and loved all the wildlife. A highlight was the Explorers Cafe. Staff could not have been nicer. Really clean. Food was fabulous and reasonably priced. We didn't have any children with us, so can't comment on the experience for them, but for us over 50's it was exceptional. Plenty of seating and lots to see. 5 Stars from us!

User

Went there 2 days ago was fab they had train to take us around as it has 100 acrs of land so cannot walk the whole lot you can see the animals from the train but not as close up as on foot they had two shows one birds of prey and zulu dancers they were just amazing added to the feel of africa lots play areas for children cafe was bit expensive and lollies and drinks were too £4.20 for magnum and a coke! But the overal experience was realy good id recommend it

User

We went yesterday. Was a great day out. Loved seeing all the animals. The lions were fab and we got a great look at them. The animals looked well cared for and the enclosures great. The guy on the train knew his stuff as gave us a very informative tour of the park. X

We visited on the 23rd of July as we had bought our 10 year old son the Big Keeper/Little Keeper experience for his birthday and was very well looked after by Frankie. Our son is Autistic and has a super keen interest in animals so poor Frankie was asked about a billion questions which she answered very patiently even though this often caused a delay to proceedings. Luckily Dad (me) was there to chop the veggies/prepare the food and clean up Giraffe poop while he continued to interrogate her lol. We have visited Africa Alive a few times and have always enjoyed it but the keeper experience just added something extra special. Frankie took pics as we went round and they are available to buy at the end of your experience. All in all, a fantastic (even though it was sweltering hot) day and a very, very happy 10 year old boy at the end of it, a massive thank you to Frankie for her patience and sharing her knowledge.

User

We visited for my 2yo & 5yo's birthdays and took my 85yo Nan, we had a fabulous time, the kids loved every part of it and my Nan thought the park was great, so much space for the animals and she saw so many things she had only ever seen on the telly! Will definitely go again!

User

We visited Africa Alive last week while on holiday in Yarmouth. Was a short drive from the site we were staying at and the kids (9, 7 & 2) were very excited to go. We had such a lovely day, I totally underestimated how big the whole place was and didn’t bring a pushchair for my two year old. I guess I’m not the only one though as the gift shop had some really cool little buggies to rent for the day.

The range of animals is amazing, we particularly loved the Lions and my kids loved the foxes.

The whole day way amazing, the park clean and so well looked after, as were the animals.

We would definitely recommend Africa Alive and will be visiting again :)

User

We visited Africa Alive for the very first time yesterday and we were certainly not disappointed. An absolutely fantastic day where we got to see so many different types of animal, a chance to watch the superb Zulu nation and the opportunity to speak to staff who genuinely knew their stuff and care so much about the animals here. We also took up the chance to go on the African Plains safari which I can not recommend enough. It was well worth the money paid as we were in with the animals for around 35 minutes, the tour lady told us so much about each of the animals and answered any questions we had and then it was all topped off with the chance to feed the giraffes. This is one of the best animal places we have been to and will definitely be visiting again, just a shame it’s 3 hours away from where we live. Thank you for what I can only describe as a perfect day out.

User

We had a fantastic time here this week. Your staff were fantastic and helpful especially Stephan the road train driver! The children's favourites were your lovely Fossa family and the Servals. We even got to see a gorgeous water vole round the Lemur Islands! Thank you!

User

We are annual pass holders, but our first time at night. We really enjoyed it so did our 6 year twin boys. Very well turned out with lots of people, even though we cued up to get in it was lovely the staff had giant snails and millipede (hope this is correct,) for the children so see and stroke so it passed the time away. Lots to do and see. Great evening out.

User

Visited today whilst on holiday with the family. The kids and adults have had an absolutely superb day!! I honestly cannot speak more highly of this place: the animals all seem very happy and well looked after, the staff are excellent and extremely knowledgable and the displays on offer were fantastic. Was so excited to see The Mighty Zulu Nation as they have visited the school I work at and we were not disappointed. This is a genuinely great day out and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Thank you for such a fantastic day!

User

Totally enjoyed every bit. The animals looked so happy and relaxed and there was plenty to do. The staff was very helpful and polite. 100% recommend to anyone. Just a shame I didn't live nearer I would get a membership. Overall worth every penny

User

My new favourite place!! We paid to do the Safari whilst there and GOODNESS ME it was worth every single penny, which might I add was incredibly reasonable!! Can't wait to come back!

My only criticism is that as a Gluten / Dairy Free diet, I had pretty much no choice on what to have for lunch and went hungry, HOWEVER was so impressed with the CANNED water instead of bottled!

User

It was great animals weren't stuffed in like many zoo's they had lots of space and looked really well cared for food was lovely and reasonably priced and its got lots of seating and activities for the kids even has an indoor play area and its also very tranquil and spaced out lovely a great day out everyone should go at least once

User

I'd like to give a massive thank you to Frankie for making my zookeeper experience day so memorable. I had an amazing time and feel very privileged being able to get up close to so many lovely animals. Frankie was so warm and welcoming throughout my visit she is a top keeper and made my visit fun but educational too thank you

User

Great day out we did a zoo keeper experience and it was amazing. Animals well cared for staff friendly helpful and knowledgeable perfect family day out. Special thumbs up to Steve the land train driver who took us round the park giving us a commentary of the animals. Plenty if places to eat which weren't expensive as these places usually are. Nice gift shops for the usual animal souvenirs. Even a small crazy golf which we all enjoyed. Will defiantly visit again when in the area.

User

Excellent place to go.

Great for families, adult couples or just in your own.

Food at a fair price.

Staff knowledgeable and very interactive.

Lots to see and do or just watch the numerous demonstrations.

Well recommended.

Cost was about right for a full day out with the option of the all year pass.

User

Couldn’t fault Africa alive today! Notices everywhere about wasps, traps placed everywhere which keep them away from the customers as much as possible and the cleanliness of the food areas was second to none! The staff were amazing, so friendly and kind I cannot recommend this place enough. Thank you

User

Today we visited as a family I am a wheelchair user , it was very very bad for my family to push me about the park, access is not good , lots of rough patches and trying to get into certain areas is virtually impossible .

We love Africa alive ....but it badly needs to be more wheelchair friendly .
