About Africa Centre

The Africa Centre promotes Africa's cultural and social diversity, showcasing dynamic cultural events for its diaspora and all Africaphiles. For over 50 years the organisation has been the spirit and soul of African culture for those visiting from abroad.

Africa Centre Description

The over-arching mission of the Africa Centre today is to promote Africa’s cultural diversity seldom seen outside of the continent AND to bring to the fore front, issues affecting not just Africans in Africa, but also in the Diaspora wherever they may be found.

Our objectives are:
To serve as the custodian of African Art and Culture in the United Kingdom
To be a voice for Africans in the Diaspora
To serve as a platform to promote African Socio-Economic and Developmental issues
The Africa Centre is the centre in London for the culture of Africa and the African diaspora.

We put on series of events from all aspects of the cultural perspective – from literature to film, fashion to theatre, art to music. We also have an educational remit, and have been the venue for intense political debate.
We work with many African cultural providers and will continue to do so.
