African Youth Arise (Aya)

African Youth Arise (AYA) is a community organisation dedicated to enhancing and enriching the lives of Young African descendants based in the U. K. The target age group is between 11 and 25 based in the East Midlands but anticipates growth and spread to the rest of the United Kingdom. AYA has a management committee supported by members and mentors, all subject to enhanced DBS checks. What we doOur mission is the pursuit of excellence for young people, with an emphasis on instilling values such as respect, discipline and work ethic. We help prepare their participation as active citizens and members of a global community. To achieve this, our work involves facilitating their development of personal, social and civic responsibilities through dynamic and interactive activities. We organise activities to be delivered online, localised workshops and residential trips. Understanding Self To help young people improve and gain an understanding of self, history and heritageSkill Development Provide opportunities for the development of interpersonal and transferable skills. Build Relationships Respect for different cultural values and revel in our diversity. Maximize Potential Encourage, nurture and coach to achieve maximum potential.
