Afv Sim Description
AFV Sim supplies simulation training devices to the armed forces, defence companies and defence organisations. With a focus on armoured land vehicles and platforms, the product range includes control handles, instrument panels and monitors for gunners and commanders positions in Main Battle Tanks, Infantry Fighting Vehicles and Remote Weapon Stations.
We have supplied simulation training devices for the crews and operators of:

The devices can be supplied with a USB interface, enabling them to be used with standard desktop or laptop computers and are compatible with simulation training software for Armoured Fighting Vehicles such as:
• Steel Beasts Professional and PE, developed by eSim Games
• VBS, developed by Bohemia Interactive Simulations.
AFV Sim can design and manufacture simulated versions of control handles, instrument panels and monitors for other vehicles and platforms not listed and are also able to convert the original equipment to a USB interface for computer simulation training.
The devices can be supplied as individual units and integrated with specifically developed training software, or complete with all necessary equipment and third party software to provide a cost effective desktop trainer. The devices can also be used in high fidelity crew training simulator systems.
The latest Armoured Fighting Vehicles use complex control handles and panels, with multi-functional switches and buttons, requiring the crews to undergo intensive training. Using AFV Sim’s simulated training devices as part of a desktop trainer, Commanders and Gunners are able to learn, develop and practice these skills in a classroom environment, without the need of the original equipment controls, platforms, or vehicles. AFV Sim was asked to provide an alternative training solution for bore sighting a Remote Weapon Station. The established method was to use the platform and fire live ammunition on a target range. These basic skills are now taught and practised with our simulated gunners control handles and simulation software in a classroom. This method has considerably reduced the amount of ammunition and range time previously required and we have been informed that it saves several thousand rounds of ammunition per training course. Our devices were proven to be a cost effective training solution.

This looks like an interesting piece of training equipment from SanlabSimulation. We think our gunner, commander and driver controls would be a perfect addition to their Battle Tank VR Motion Simulator.
Our customer will receive a batch of these next week. AFV Sim's desktop trainer version of the CV9035 commanders control console. The gunners control handles were delivered last month.
Many of our customers use our simulation training devices together with Steel Beasts 'SB Professional' software to practice gunnery skills in a classroom environment.
4.1 is the latest version and will be released next month.

One of our Leopard 2A5 gunners control handles was back in the workshop earlier this week as it required a Windows 10 circuit board update and general servicing. It's been on loan to one of our industry partners for demonstrations in a battle lab for several years. It was built 13 years ago and is still fit for purpose.
At the same time we had an email from a member of the Steel Beasts gaming community, asking if we had any control handles available for sale, perhaps somethin...g used or repaired?
We decided to offer the old Leopard 2A5 gunners control handle and supply our industry partner with a new device.
Our offer was quickly accepted!
The proceeds were donated to Help for Heroes charity.

We knew that there was never going to be a huge demand for AFV Sim's training version of the Challenger 2 gunners and commanders control handle as there's only one end-user, the British army and they already had several effective training solutions.
We manufactured a batch in 2013 but the final requirement ended up being much less than anticipated. Most of the units we built were put into storage, dismantled for spares or donated to organisations.
We are therefore very pleased to have recently supplied our first batch for several years.
AFV Sim will be at this years ITEC exhibition in Sweden 14-16 May where we'll be guests of Bohemia Interactive Simulations on stand ID140. Visitors will be able to see demonstrations of BISim's CV9040 part-task trainer using VBS3 simulation software and AFV Sim's gunner and commander control handles.

It was good to meet a lot of our existing and some potentially new customers and contacts at the I/ITSEC exhibition this week in Orlando. We're pleased that we eventually managed to put faces to names for a few.
Our simulation training devices were present on two booths at the exhibition; both seemed to be very busy during our visit.

The sand cast patterns for our Leopard 2 gunners hand grips have been 'retired' after 14 years service as it wasn't cost effective to have the tooling replaced. The hand grips will be 3d printed from now on and we've just finished building the first prototypes.
We're looking forward to visiting the I/ITSEC exhibition 27-29 November in Orlando USA. The annual Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) showcases simulation, education, modeling and training technology for the exchange of information among industry, the military, and the educational communities.
