CATRI trimarans are made in Latvia, one of the three Baltic States that used to be part of the USSR. The designer, Aldis Eglajs, has been designing multihulls since the early 1950s and his dream of very fast but very safe boats led him to invent the CATRI concept, which relies upon hydrofoils for stability and safety.

These boats are not in the least like the extreme hydrofoil monhull dinghies like the Moth. Nor are they at all like the dangerous and extreme Americas Cup boats. No, they are safe and comfortable and can be sailed by anybody who is capable of sailing any yacht.

There are two new, eagerly awaited boats, the CATRI 25 and the CATRI 28, that will be available from 2014.
