About A.I.A Shot Blasting And Powder Coating
Powder Coating is the process of applying a dry, free-flowing powder via an electrostatic gun to the metal substrate.
A.I.A Shot Blasting And Powder Coating Description
We always clean the metal substrate by shot blasting to ensure the substrate is free of grease and mill scale. This ensures the powder achieves maximum adhesion. The applied powder is then heated in an oven to its melting point which allows it to cure. Once the items have been brought out of the oven and cooled down the process is finished, there is no waiting for it to dry. Powder Coating provides a smooth, durable and corrosion resistant finish. The powder is applied in a number of stages to ensure maximum adhesion and corrosion protection to the metal substrate. The first stage is to preheat the metal in the oven. For effective curing of the powder the metal must be at the same melting temperature as the powder. Then powder primer can be applied. There are a range of different primers available to suit customer needs including zinc rich and epoxy primers. This is then green baked in the oven and then the top coat is applied. Then the whole job is reheated to fully cured. The powder is applied in a number of stages to ensure maximum adhesion and corrosion protection to the metal substrate. We carry an extensive stock of RAL colours, however should you require a colour which we do not stock, and we can normally order 'specials' within 1-3 days. Should you require extra protection we can use various corrosion resistant Zinc Rich primers on your items or zinc metal spraying.
