About Aikido Alive Bermondsey

Aikido is a non-violent Japanese martial art developed by Ueshiba Morihei. Our lineage includes free-hand techniques, as well as handling wooden sword and staff.

Aikido Alive Bermondsey Description

Aikido is a non-violent and non-competitive Japanese martial art, pointing to a non-dualistic relationship where conflict ceases.

Everyone is welcome (16 + ), regardless of gender or previous sports /martial arts experience. It is a great way to improve your fitness, coordination and confidence.

Apart from free-hand practice, we use wooden weapons as well: staff ('jo' - about 4 ft long), sword ('boken' - the shape resembles a samurai sword) and knife ('tanto'). These help coordination and there are individual and partner forms with them.
