We have been to this place so many times and it does not disappoint. Another brilliant meal and fabulous service.

Visited last night with party of 18 for daughter's 21st. Having taken the cake and table decorations up earlier in the day we arrived to everything already set up for her. Six of us had the meze and the rest ordered off the main menu - food and service was great all night. Would definitely recommend.

The Acropolis, a very warm family atmosphere, the owner and his wife are very caring and kind people, the food is brilliant with lots of choice for meat, fish and veggie options and it's open all day from 12pm onwards on Sunday's!

Rest of the week Mon-Fri, 5-11pm!

I've rated this restaurant as 5 !

Such a friendly restaurant with a nice atmosphere, the food is always really good. A perfect place for a meal before visiting the Cliffs Pavillion or just for a really nice night out

Second time at this restaurant and will return again, wonderful food which is always cooked to my liking. Great atmosphere and the singer Tony Haywood has a wide selection of songs ready to play to you on demand.

Lovely traditional Greek/Cypriot food

Lovely staff

Will definitely return

Only 2 little niggles, the cheesecake was frozen solid, so more like icecream - apparently that's how it comes! And we wished they carried on with the Greek music which made you feel like you were back in Cyprus lol, rather than have an English singer

Lovely little place, nicely decorated, clean and neat. The food was really really nice, huge portions! Family run, very friendly and welcoming! We were there on a Sunday evening, and there was discreet live music which was very atmospheric. Highly recommend this fabulous restaurant

Love this place. Doesn't matter if you haven't been for a while, always a friendly welcome. Great good, reasonably priced and nice atmosphere. Thoughly recommended. One of the best places to eat in the Southend area.

First time here for me. The food was delicious, plenty of choice. I had the lamb Kleftika.

Nice atmosphere but would have preferred Greek music rather than English.

Will definitely be coming back.

First time at the Akropolis last night but it definitely won't be the last, the food was excellent and felt very comfortable in this lovely restaurant.

User

Can't not fault the food or the service. Will definitely be returning. My far the best i have eaten in Essex and only 15 minute walk which helps after eaten so much food.

User

Absolute fantastic food and leaves you more than stratified. Staff are 100% helpful and attentive. Cosy atmosphere and love music. If you haven’t been you really need to try this hidden gem.

Went for our first wedding anniversary as we got married in Greece so seemed quite fitting. The food was absolutely amazing and the portions were very generous. The staff however were miserable and not helpful at all, we ordered the Meze so didn’t know what each dish was and as the waitress put the dishes down she didn’t tell us what they were. Also despite having booked a table and the restaurant being half empty they sat us right next to the door with the sun glaring in my eyes and people constantly walking past. The staff also knocked us a couple of times and didn’t apologise. The man playing the Guitar saved the day as changed the atmosphere from moody to relaxed and romantic would go there again but be aware of the staff they defo aren’t the friendly Greek people im used to!!

It's not got the glamour but the food is excellent and the staff are good.

Any establishment that is packed every table and seat taken must have a good reputation.

4 stars for the food from me

Dined this evening as a group of 4, we had booked a table yet were left standing by the door at least 10 minutes before our existence was acknowledged.

There are far too many tables rammed into this place; be prepared to dine with and clash elbows with strangers.

My food was great, I ordered the garlic mushroom starter and salmon steak. Two people with me ordered sea bass with prawns; the sea bass was mediocre and the prawns were really hard and inedible. To be fair this wasn't passed on to the staff so they didn't have the opportunity to rectify this.

My partner had the tiramisu, this was enormous as tasted incredible, very light!

The waiting time was very long, averaging one course per hour, our total of 3 courses took 3 hours, which I personally think is rather ridiculous.

Half way through a man began to sing and play the guitar, way too close to us, we could no longer hear each other talk.

We were served by around 5 different people, there didn't seem to be any organisation; yes the restaurant was very busy but I felt stressed out watching the chaos as everyone bumped into each other.

Where one of our group was sat meant that he was constantly being knocked into by staff members; this was not once acknowledged or apologised for.

The food was generally very good, the prices not unreasonable, the atmosphere and comfort lacking and the customer service skills minimal, until they see you with a fat tip then it's all smiles!

Would I go back? No, none of us would, but if I could pick up the food and take it somewhere spacious and quiet, I'm in.

We experienced a perfect demo of how not to deal with a customer tonight

We had a table booked for 6 people at 8:30pm

When we arrived at 8:25 the restaurant didn't look as if it had room for even a small one

A waiter asked us if we had booked and went off to check the order book

I am guessing he realised there was a problem and decided the best course of action was to ignore us hoping the magic overbooking fairies would whisk us away

Much as I wanted to see how long he could keep that up for one of our group decided to check with him how long it would be before we got to sit down at a table only to be told he had not checked the bookings yet

Other restaurants are available and we had a very nice meal at Tara Thai in Hamlet Court Road
