About Al-Ayn Social Care Foundation - Uk

Empowering orphaned children in Iraq, through comprehensive care and support.

Al-Ayn Social Care Foundation - Uk Description

Al-Ayn Social Care Foundation is an independent non-profit humanitarian organisation, in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. The Foundation aims to document the cases of the victims of terrorism, and provide comprehensive care for their families and orphans. The care provided includes financial assistance, in addition to medical care, educational support, psychological rehabilitation and vocational training.

Due to the devastating consequences of terrorist attacks within the country beginning 2003, many children have been left orphaned and families have been left devastated. Al-Ayn Social Care Foundation was established in Iraq in 2006, to support and sponsor these orphans, and provide care for them in all aspects of their needs. Al-Ayn (UK) was registered as a charity in the UK in 2013, to work in collaboration with Al-Ayn (Iraq).

As of November 2014, around 27, 000 orphans have been registered with the Foundation, and currently 22, 679 orphans are sponsored. In additional to monthly financial allowances, the orphans receive medical care, educational support, psychological rehabilitation, recreational activities, and other programmes tailored to their needs.

Al-Ayn was set up under the guidance of Ayatollah Al-Sayyid Ali Al-Hussaini Al-Sistani (ha) and continues to receive his blessings and authorisation to receive religious dues to spend on the orphans.

Over the past few weeks, Al-Ayn (Iraq) began to implement various plans and procedures so that critical aid can reach vulnerable families in their homes. This included increasing capacity of basic stocks in Al-Ayn's warehouses to address the magnitude of the emergency. Protective measures were also put in place to safeguard both aid workers and those receiving help across Iraq. We are humbled by the response so far to the COVID-19 Relief Campaign. This week, vulnerable families living in poor areas began receiving aid thanks to you. Unfortunately, the crisis is ongoing. However, there is a dire need for your help so that we can reach many more in the upcoming weeks and maintain this incredible global response in a time of crisis. Reflections During Lockdown: Lessons I Learnt From 5 Orphaned Children - The COVID-19 pandemic facing our world today has brought about sweeping changes to every aspect of our lives. At best, it has forced us to change the way we live, work and connect with our family, friends and community. Some have already lost loved ones to this disease, whilst others are fearful for their own lives or the lives of vulnerable people around them. In these strange and stressful times, we look to seek inspiration from Iraq’s orphaned children....To read the full blog, visit: http://www.alayn.co.uk/updates

The Hikayati programme was also recently piloted in Iraq! Circle time games give us the chance to connect together as a group and to reflect on what we have learnt. This reinforces the friendship and bonds between us and means that we can translate all the fun we have had today into lessons to take with us into the future. *Part of the Hikayati pilot workshops in Najaf in December 2019*.

Did you know? Al-Ayn has rebuilt over 200 homes of orphaned children throughout Iraq with your support!

2,250 orphaned children are currently registered on our waiting list for help.
Luckily, every penny placed in the Al-Ayn Sadaqa Box is spent entirely on financial aid for orphaned children who have not been privately sponsored. Your small change will have a big impact on the lives of orphaned children in need.

Another fruitful workshop held at our London offices. Many thanks to both facilitators who touched upon useful parenting tips, challenges faced and much more!
