تعمل #الأحياء_العشوائية الجديدة التي تم بناؤها في مدينة دهوك العراقية على تحسين تصميماتها، مقدّمة بذلك نموذجا ل #التخطيط_الحضري الشعبي.
حيث أن تصميم أحدث مساكن دهوك العشوائية أفضل من تصميم تلك الأحياء التي ولدت في نزاعات سابقة، فشوارعها أوسع، والمنازل أكبر، وهناك قطع أراضٍ للمرافق الأساسية مثل المحلات التجارية. تقول ليلى محمد رسول، عميدة كلية الهندسة في جامعة نوروز في دهوك، “لقد أصبح الناس، وهم من المزارعين في العادة، الذين يبيعون القطع لبناء مساكن عشوائية، أكثر ذكاءً”.

يواجه الطلاب السوريون العديد من الصعوبات في سعيهم للحصول على شهادات عليا، لكن العديد من هذه العقبات ليست أكاديمية، بل لوجيستية، وفي بعض الأحيان تتسم بمنعطفات شديدة السوداوية.
