Alan’S Plants Garden Centre Greenwich

Well I’ve brought some new stock in yesterday. Some really solid Olive tree standards and large sized Pieris ‘Mountain Fire’. These are in limited supply. Also the latest in seasonal herbaceous plants up start to come into flower Geum ‘Mrs Bradshaw’ with its bright scarlet flowers over many weeks. In addition I’ve the recently introduced Gypsophilia ‘Little Maid’. Unlike the big flowering types used by florists this one is more ground cover but with slightly larger flowers than the cut flower version. Pieris shown below is ‘Silver Flame’. Summer Bedding I’ve also got in an extensive range of bedding and basket plants all grown locally in Kent. There’s the usual bright red Zonal Pelagoniums (known incorrectly as Geraniums) plus some other cheery colours too. In fact there’s some new petunias in particular one with mid purple flowers edged green. A sure winner is that one as it’s also a trailer. I also have a selection of some of the brightest colours of trailing pelargoniums and Bacopa, verbena, French Marigolds, Tagettes, etc etc.
Veg plants Plus at least five varieties of Tomato plant plus Chillies, Sweet Peppers and Aubergines and more!

Spring shrubs Since relocating just years away from Denham Street, the additional space at number 76 Woolwich Road is great but having nearly finished stocking up for Easter I’m finding that space is getting a bit tight so I’m going to have to be creative to get all the plants in here that I want to sparkle you with over the Easter Holiday. I’ve got Rhododendrons just about to bloom as are the evergreen azaleas and the deliciously sce...nted ‘Knaphill Hybrid’ azaleas. I’ve Pieris ‘Silver Flame’ in full bloom with stunning new red foliage. I’ve even a few of that sought after slow growing Pieris ‘Little Heath variegated’ approx 5-6 years old but already a good size.
I source plants locally from established Nurseries and Growers. Over 90% of the plants I sell are UK grown, the remainder being sourced from within the EU. I’m proud of the quality of my plants and if you have bought plants from me in the past you will know that I give freely more than adequate advice on how to get your plants to flourish. The quality of the plants is paramount to me as is giving you a fair bit realistic price - I don’t do discounts so please don’t ask as my prices are very keen for the quality I supply.

I’ve just started to bring in the hardier bedding plants for the summer season. We have locally grown Zonal Pelargoniums1 (commonly & incorrectly known as Geraniums), in pink and stunning dark red.
For baskets and window boxes there’s the following trailing plants: Verbena in bright red1, ... white Bacopa, burgundy Petunias1 mixed pots of scented sweet peas

Veggies On the veg front I have Cherry and Beefsteak tomato plants (there’s about another dozen different varieties of tomato to follow soon ! ) Strawberry plants which will flower and fruit in the coming weeks. And as the weather warms there will be beans French and runners, courgettes and Butternut squashes, cabbage and cauliflower plants, celery and leek plants plus pots of beetroot seedlings in multicolours! Not to forget I’ve also two delicious varieties of Rhubarb and there’s just a few pots left of these.

PS I also offer a hanging basket and window box replanting service. Bring along last years baskets and boxes (preferably empty) and I will replant using top grade compost plus slow release fertiliser and water retaining gel crystals. (Minimum charge based on a 12” hanging basket and three plants e.g. 1x Bacopa, 1x Verbena, 1x Petunia would be £6.75. (Other sizes and mix of plants calculated at time of planters being left with me) the pictures shown are of larger baskets than that quoted.
