Alastair Ames had been running a successful and highly service focussed recruitment and search and selection business, Alastair Ames Associates, for 32 years. The business was established in times when high levels of customer service, advice and delivery of a successful solution were both expected and consequently delivered. Advice and business assistance were provided across clients businesses in addition to the provision of recruitment solutions. The recruitment industry has now moved rapidly away from pure consultancy and has embraced the digital age. This made it less attractive to those companies looking to continue to deliver consultancy led solutions. In March 2018 a decision was made to refocus and concentrate on delivering general consultancy services to smaller businesses , operating in B2B, who are ready to question and develop their current approach and methodology. The business would focus on offering a cost effective "common sense "approach to support small business owners looking for entrepreneurial input. The recruitment business was closed and focus shifted to pure consultancy. We are still providing advice, when required, on the general market place and the filling of senior and strategic roles. Over the last year we have been involved with several projects with businesses across the UK. We have for example spent several months helping a business to commercialise technology aimed at reducing emissions in petrol vehicles. The technology is now due to be adopted by a leading manufacturer. We have also worked closely with the board of a specialised financial services company and helped them to restructure and refocus on profitable growth with the right team in place. The refocus has enabled them to raise further finance to fund what will be significant short-term expansion. We are currently working with aspiring entrepreneurial business owners and helping them to realise their short and medium term ambitions.
