Ambassador Theatre Group presents
IAN MCKELLEN ON STAGE
With Tolkien, Shakespeare, othersā¦and you!
... A message from Ian McKellen:
Iām celebrating my 80th birthday by touring a new solo show to theatres I know well and a few that I donāt. The show starts with Gandalf and will probably end with an invitation to act with me on stage. In-between there will be anecdotes and acting. I open at my local arts centre in January and end up by August in Orkney.
Live theatre has always been thrilling to me, as an actor and in the audience. Growing up in Lancashire, I was grateful to those companies who toured beyond London and Iāve always enjoyed repaying that debt by touring up and down the country myself, with the RSC, the National Theatre, Prospect Theatre, the Actorsā Company, as well as with commercial productions.
I wanted to celebrate my 80th birthday in Bolton, where I grew up and discovered in its 3 professional theatres, a passion for acting, which has never faded. In the Town Hall, where my father was Borough Engineer, Iāll feel at home and grateful for all that Bolton nurtured in me at Bolton School, the Little Theatre and in Barrow Bridge where we lived close to the moors. All profits will help with new seating in the Albert Halls Theatre. Happy Birthday to me! See you there, I hope!

What a wonderful evening watching Annie and the staff were amazing making our little granddaughters wishes come true cuddles with Annie and sandy ļæ½
We really enjoyed Cinderella yesterday, especially our own little Cinderella Anaia, it made her day going up to sing with the fairy godmother. The girls are all looking forward to next years panto
We have just been to todays performance but unfortune the fire alarm went off just before first half finished ļæ½. We wasnt waiting around to see what happened as the kids were very cold. So not to make them wait we left.. gutted as we was enjoying it
Watched the wizard of oz on Friday with my daughter and her friends - they all loved it. I laughed all the way through. My favourite was the lion
The outside architecture is great inside it's too modern
Me and my husband have just come back from watching Jesus Christ superstar ..... Wow fantastic ..brilliant .. Love this theatre , value for money . You don't have to go to all the big theatre to enjoy productions . Also actors and actress in this production could easily out play the more popular actor and actress... Well done guys and girls

Lovely theatre, great show will definately be coming here for next year's panto ļæ½ļæ½ļæ½

Fantastic show last night at the wizard of oz ! Lots of fun for the children and a few jokes for the parentsļæ½. The whole cast was fantastic but a special shout out to the scarecrow he was fab! Great family fun !
Fantastic performance of Wizard of Oz yesterday. The lad I took is in a wheelchair and he loved the show. We had a great view. Special shout out to the scarecrow-very funny. X
Fantastic panto! Three generations loved itļæ½
Fantastic panto best one yet!!! Stu Francis n all the cast was brill xx
Excellent night watching Tom Stade. Up close and personal so made it even better
Really enjoyed Cinderella this year and the Albert Halls is always a great theatre to watch panto in as everyone can see and it's comfortable. Agree with another post that some signs wouldn't go a miss. Hugely let down by the drinks supply in the bar. Hubby wanted a drink (just the one it being New Years Eve) and all they had to offer was pop, cider or warm Guinness from the back which we couldn't understand as 80%of the fridges were empty!! Such a shame x
Good location to go to a gig at.
Went with a group of friends to watch baby city rollers i was appalled how everyone treated the young girls behind the bar shouting at them because thĆØy couldnt get served
But it was the mangers and people in charge who was at fault as the bar is way to small for all the people attending as everyone wanting a drink we waiting half an hour to get served and then all drinks were gone we missed nearly all the show very disaapointed
