Another perfect day for coppicing and clearing goat willow scrub from the marshes - the clearance creates rich fenn habitat, while managed coppicing creates new growth for making willow fencing and firewood.
A perfect spring morning for East Anglian Air Ambulance Charity team challenges on Alderfen Marshes. Not too muddy and amazed by some impressive diving catches that went beyond the call of duty! #Dedication #Teamwork
Hand cut discs from a Red Oak thinned earlier this year finished with natural mineral oil and polished with beeswax to make trivets, cheeseboards and cutting boards. #Upcycling #NothingGoesToWaste
Cutting and raking last year's growth from the dyke banks encourages diverse growth to come through in the Spring. Cutting various banks on a one, two or three year rotation allows different species to thrive across the marshes

Keeping the waterways clear is a pleasant winter job on the marshes. Maintaining diverse habitat as well as unspoilt access for canoes is an important balance
Clearing dead alder branches and scrub from the marshes allows light in which increases plant diversity below. This is chopped, making great fire wood. Nothing goes to waste.
Over 100 willow cuttings planted so far this year. Great for wildlife, an excellent natural screen on the marshes as well as producing a useful crop of whips every year - perfect for making natural bird hides

We had a lovely day out on the water with Moco yesterday - you see so much more from a canoe. We were very well taken care of and thought it was brilliant value for money. We'll definitely be going again later in the summer.
Brilliant place, fantastic experience hope to return.
As a single person this was my first foray in testing off grid camping. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thanks.
