After the baking summer it's satisfying to see everything recovering so well :)
Potted up my Ethiopian banana this morning, looking great in this weather!
If you look past the pallets, my front garden is looking distinctly tropical. As of next spring I will be selling various plants throughout the year. Lots of weird and wonderful things being propagated already.
A rather hot mornings work hedge cutting!
First purple sprouting broccoli of the year and some lovely tender side shoots of calabrese. Some of the most colourful carrots o hav3 grown so far, red, white, purple, tiger purple and orange, yellow and red! A really good year for carrots it seems.
a spot of tidying in a shaded area, probably one of the few green areas left in norfolk! certainly the only lawn i'm mowing
Almost forgot the eggs...
Another colourful fresh produce delivery ready to go.
Some really awkward cuts to make here, having to become one with the Bush... feel like master Yoda of the horticulture world...
Next up is a pyracantha hedge to plant, the bed soil is like concrete to having to break it up and dress with compost. We are using a natural feed with mychorhizal fungi added. This increase root mass and helps the plants establish in this tough weather. Only 34 to plant...
Well as nothing is growing this heatwave, what better time to catch up on fence painting and repair. 4 new feather edge boards fitted and 2 costs of 5 year woodstain. Makes all the difference.
A selection of my organically grown fruit and veg for a long time customer. Increasing production year on year and hope to offer more over next few years. Loving the intertwined carrots!
Lillies finally bloomed! And I have a new apprentice helping me today...
A selection of things from my own garden
Framberries propagated using air layering technique. I used peat rooting cubes and attached using an elastic band so the root nodules are pressed into the cube. A quick wrap in cling film to stop the cube drying out and a few days later we have roots. These can be snipped off and potted up straight away. Doing it this way allows the plant to have a developed root system before potting on resulting in a stronger, drought resistant and more vigorous plant.
Satisfying to see your hard work bear fruits. Immaculate weed free lawn even in this dry spell and under stress from wear and tear. Now to get my own looking as good...
Treated this lawn last week and cut and edged today. Very happy with the results. Lush healthy growth, no weeds or moss. If you have a lawn you would like treated we will be happy to provide a free quotation. We can provide one off or regular visits and our treatments are twice yearly for complete weed control and feeding.
Busy day scarifying and cutting lawns. A trim to some lonicera hedging and removal of cow parsley... All on a Sunday. We work every day at Aldous Horticulture!
