Tries from Brad Russell (2), Josh Reynolds (2), Adam Reed and Josh Atkin plus 3 conversions from Adam Rèéd helped Aldridge RFC into the Semi-Final of the North Midlands RFU Vase.
A great performance especially on defence again.

Superb Turnout last night at training...nearly 30 guys who put in an excellent shift. Good luck to whatever side you are playing for this weekend, once again we have pushed for 3 sides to try to help maximise players game time. #letsdothis

Head Coach Jon Arch on North Midlands RFU Vase Quarter-FInal against Aston Old Edwardians RFC.
“Firstly, based on our two league encounters this season it is going to be a very tight and physical game - Aston are a very good side as we have found out. We have to learn from our game in January and focus on our game not what Aston are doing - if we do that we will be ok.
Selection, like every week is tough; the 2nd XV put in a great performance last week to win 67 - 10 against ...Cannock 2’s, and the feedback we have had on all the players was nothing but positive. It was really nice though to see our 1s put in a complete controlled performance for 79 minutes - we switched off in last play of game and conceded a soft try which I know the guys were really unhappy about - this shows to me the players are now setting their own standard. One play epitomised this last week, 1st Team Hooker and Club Captain Mark Smith chased down the Cannock winger after giving him a 5 yard start to firstly make the tackle and then turn the ball over - Mark had been quite critical of his own work rate the previous week especially on the tackle count, this one certainly made up for that.
We have a couple of guys nursing injuries so we will be resting a few in anticipation of next weekends tough trip to face Clee Hill RFC, but we are able to call up guys who are right in form. When I think back to last season when I was having to name myself on the bench at times it shows how far the club has come in such a short time. We have bought in young Jack Robbins and utility back Chris Turner (who will be making his first XV debut for Aldridge), it's a great opportunity for us to have a proper look at them, whilst giving some of the guys who were on the bench last week a full 80 minutes of game time. And as an added bonus we have got Josh Atkin back from injury; he has trained really well this week and will start on the bench - we are more focused on having him available for the key game next week against Clee.
We are looking to try out a few things; progressing in the cup is important, however the remaining 7 league games take priority.”
Kick off is at 2.00pm at Bourne Vale
