Alice Acreman Silks Description

The infinite complexities of nature, travel and art have inspired my designs. Drawn to vintage botanical imagery and scientific diagrams, I begin with geometric shapes then contrast with delicate florals and eye catching creatures. I joined Etsy to reach a global market for my digital print silks and loved the endless amount of creativity to be found.

The deign process involves a collage of water color painting, hand sketching and arraying vintage imagery. I prefer to use scissors and glue to form the layout rather than a digital program. I believe this encourages a more organic and texture look to the fabric once it has been printed. I layer up shapes and colors, suggesting symmetry but working from eye and aiming for the unexpected. Its important to me that my products are finished to a high quality and a luxury to own. I love to print onto natural silk because of the texture, it drapes so beautifully and feels so wonderful on the skin.

I travel between my studios in Oxford and Ohio, selling at stores and markets on both sides of the world, taking time to travel whenever possible. I combine art and fashion in a unique, intricate way, I hope will inspire and can be appreciated by a variety of people.

Currently I am selling my designs on scarves but with dreams to create other wearable silk items and more. I am open to suggestions and requests so don't hesitate to contact me.
