About Alison Brooks Architects

Established in 1996, Alison Brooks Architects has an international reputation for delivering design excellence and innovation in projects ranging from urban regeneration and masterplanning to public buildings for the arts, higher education and housing. ABA's award-winning architecture draws on our research into the unique cultural, social and environmental contexts of each project. This enables us to develop solutions with a responsive, resonant approach to architectural form, space and material. ABA's projects have been proven to satisfy our client's expectations, improve quality of life and positively impact the urban realm. Our approach has led us to win the UK's three most prestigious awards for architectural quality - the Stirling Prize, the Manser Medal and the Stephen Lawrence Prize. Alison Brooks Architects' largest civic commission to date is a £28M academic and residential Quadrangle for Exeter College, Oxford, won in international competition. Due for completion in 2016, this will be the first Oxford College to be designed by a female architect. The practice's work includes new Maggie's Cancer Care Centre, joining a stellar list of architects, large scale urban extensions to Oxford and Cambridge, and two towers in the Greenwich Peninsula. Alison Brooks' belief in the transformative social project of architecture underlies a commitment to housing and urban design. Her groundbreaking live-work residential development Newhall Be was shortlisted for the 2013 Stirling Prize and was Supreme Winner of the Housing Design Awards. Alison Brooks was named by Debrett's /The Sunday Times as one of ‘Britain's 500 Most Influential', and has been awarded BD Architect of the Year and AJ Woman Architect of the Year. ABA's work has been published worldwide and twice featured in the Phaidon Atlas of Contemporary Architecture. Alison Brooks Architects is now undertaking arts, education and urban projects across the UK and Europe.
