This photo was taken in June 2016 in a New York Airbnb apartment on Van Brunt Street in Red Hook, Brooklyn, owned by a lovely old lesbian couple who were building a coffee shop downstairs.
I am playing my brand new Seagull guitar bought that day from 30th Street Guitars in Manhattan. I am playing a song (I can’t remember which), using Ultimate Guitar .com on my phone to remind me of the chords.
I am wearing a Brooklyn Brewery t-shirt bought at the brewery, and drinking one o...f my favourite beers (from a different brewery), Samuel Adams.
This was a great trip, deeply marred by some familial and romantic difficulties, but all that negative stuff has passed, and I remember the good stuff when I see photos like this.
If there is any lesson for me to learn here, it is to be aware in the moment that good memories last and bad feelings fade away... if you choose to feed the correct wolf.
