Things going well for me at the Hampshire Artists Cooperative exhibition on now in Stockbridge: I've sold several cards and prints and an original. Dropped by for a few minutes this afternoon and happen to coincide with one of my paintings going off to a loving home in Kent. So much exciting stuff, 2D and 3D, in this exhibition. Autumn day, Polzeath. Oil, 12 x 12 inches. First attempt at water mixable oils as traditional ones have given me bad reactions to solvents for the last couple of years. Quite pleased but need to be more adventurous once I'm used to minor differences. Quite tricky subject which has been a good test. It's high summer and the wellspring of ideas is in full flow for many of us artists, I'm sure. If you use acrylics, you would do well to get hold of this wonderful book 'Complete Guide to Painting in Acrylics' by Lorena Kloosterboer https://www.facebook.com/lorena.kloosterb oer. 320 pages of colour plates and instructional text. ISBN 978-1-78221-187-7, published 2015 by Search Press. Worth a search as prices do vary quite a bit. It's such a pleasure just to browse it, much like looking at a wonderful cookery book! She's a fine artist herself so knows her subject inside out. I was honoured to have one of my paintings included.

Time and Tides exhibition. I am exhibiting. This themed exhibition has a single work by each exhibiting artist from the Salisbury Group of Artists at the Five Rivers Leisure Centre, Hulse Rd, Salisbury SP1 3NR. It is always fascinating to see the myriad ways in which artists can interpret a themed subject. Storm Moving In (acrylic on box canvas, 30 x 60 cm). Inspired by a wild walk at Christchurch, Dorset. Waves moving in different directions making it tricky....or sea-sickening!
I had this box canvas knocking around and tripping me up for a few years, waiting for the right shape of painting to drop into the little grey cells! Commemorating the 75th Anniversary of D-Day on 6 June, I have this print of my painting (it won 2 prizes in London) suitably mounted and framed - please email me for size if interested. Only 2 limited edition prints were ever made and the other one was bought by a well-known ex-Government minister. Are they old comrades with the figure behind them of one of the old men when young? Is that figure a friend or brother lost on D-Day? The scene I painted behind from the view point of a landing craft was not the photo in the newspaper but I wanted to have a scene to convey the trepidation as the troops advanced towards the beach with all the mayhem and the German zeppelins preventing air cover by allied aircraft. #dday #ww2 #britisharmy #royalbritishlegion dday75

Another lot of work from the past. Part of the entrance hall wall with images of some of my paintings printed onto it at the Royal Anglian Regiment's Museum at Duxford - without my permission, I might add, so I'm using this photo without the Imperial War Museum's permission! HM The Queen Mother was due to attend the opening and to see all my original framed paintings on display but she had flu and Martin Bell, the MP and journalist, did it instead but failed to exchange a word with me!

Here are some of my paintings in the UK national collection done for a book quite a long time ago. The originals are owned by the Imperial War Museum and certainly used to hang on HMS Belfast on the Thames. I do have very many more that qualify to be listed but it would mean too much non-painting time to go through my records!
