Pet Bereavement Counselling Service in Doncaster.

All Ears Pet Bereavement Counselling Description

About the service

People have a unique bond with their pets. Grieving the loss of a special companion whether through death or separation can be a very sad and difficult time. Feelings can be overwhelming and unfortunately not everyone understands which can make this a very lonely experience.

Whether you're a pet owner or an assistance animal user, I can offer a safe and confidential space where we can explore your feelings together as you work through your loss.

About me

I'm an experienced and qualified counsellor with a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and an individual member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy. My bereavement training includes accredited certificates in Pet Bereavement Support from the Blue Cross and Awareness in Bereavement Care through Cruse.

My experience includes working with a wide range of issues as a Volunteer Counsellor for bereavement counselling service Doncaster Cruse and mental health service Doncaster Mind and a Placement Counsellor for Sheffield NHS Workplace Wellbeing.

The feelings of grief don't go away but they do become softer and more manageable as we begin to develop a new life around them. #dealingwiththelossofapet #growingaroundgrief #petbereavementcounselling #bereavementcounselling #doncastersisgreat

We are all on a path. Sometimes our paths converge and sometimes they part. ❤️

Feelings of grief around the loss of a pet can be intense & confusing at times particularly when it seems like those around us might not understand.
Counselling can help you to explore & untangle your "ball" of emotions whatever these may be helping you to understand them better; an important part of dealing with grief.

It can be difficult to know what to say to someone who is facing pet loss. This useful article outlines 6 ways to show you care.

Taking some time out from my work this week & gaining some self care of my own with a break in Greece. 🏖️
Therapy is never too far from my mind & I collected these beautiful stones to add to my shells/ stones/ buttons collection from a beach on the gorgeous island of Rhodes.
I use these to help my clients to explore what is happening for them more easily.
... Looking forward to working with all my clients again from Wednesday onwards. 😊

I'm often asked what people can do to help them cope with the intense feelings that are part of the grieving process.
Sadly, there's no instant fix however there are some practical things you can do to help you get through.
I'll be sharing these with you in a series of #WednesdayWisdom #tips over the next few weeks - starting tomorrow. #petbereavement #bereavement #loss

What do you think? Should companies give employees who have lost their pet time off to grieve?

I spoke to Shona as I'm a pet journalist and wrote a feature about her work, then later after losing my dog Daisy. She is such a lovely, warm person and an animal lover so understands the bond we share with our pets and helped me hugely after losing Daisy. Thank you Shona.
